Warning to local: the worst cafe in malaysia
The lady boss treat us(im local malaysian traveling pulau kapas) like a dog.
I just came from a diving trip and i ordered a drink and ask to add more ice cube but without any reason given she rejected infront of my face in a rude manner. Okay i thought, they might be on shortage of ice cube and most probably she is not in a good mood that day. I can excuse that. No big deal.
Moments later i saw there is a group of french tourist asking for the same thing and immediately the daughter(who work there as a servant) brought an extra glass of empty ice cube to them. She did the same thing again when another group of ang mos on the other table asking for additional ice code. I immediately stop the daughter and ask again if i could have extra ice that i am actually more than willing to pay. The mum came and shouted at me like i kill her cat or husband. She say no more asking for ice and so and so.
I was really confused at this point as I thought to myself that I made nothing wrong. All the while I was keeping a very friendly attitude and manner. Double standard much.
I have been to pulau kapas repeated times throughout the opening season and never take a footstep into this pariah cafe ever since.
To any locals, do not dine in this cafe. They are inhumane. And the rudest person you can ever encounter on the island.
To the owner of the cafe, if you are reading this please remind yourself that you are operating your business in land of malaysia. Even if you want to apply "The grass is always greener on the other side of the fence" it doesn't make any effing sense. Please be rational and act like a normal decenr...
Read moreThe food and the drink were nice but the lady’s attitude was awful like really awful. As if we were begging for food there. There was another local couple who paid a visit and had a similar treatment. I thought she was awful to everyone. Lo and behold, when a group of foreigner came to visit, it’s like her master paid a visit; Her attitude switch like day and night. We ordered way more food and drink than them; they only ordered drinks for takeaway. But the treatment was like we ordered just cold water and they ordered Michelin star menu of the year.
The only thing that helped the service rating is (I presumed) the husband. He was friendly and helpful.
I hope the lady read this message. If you do, be nice to everyone regardless of race and nationality. If somehow, that’s like moving mountain for you and you need money, hire someone to face customer and you just work in the kitchen and don’t bother serving customer with that god-awful attitude...
Read morePrecisely next to the jetty, hence the name JT. Aunt Mira and husband still make shockingly tasty iced lemon tea.
The nasi goreng kampung and kuetiau goreng were ok. But at (expected inflated) island prices.
Update: we also had dinner here. Ordered two dishes that we don’t usually have: mee goreng mamak and burger. Both were superb. I think burgerheads would love the homemade patty.
We ordered iced lemon teas (again!) and iced green tea. Needless to say in our opinion this place deserves more customers and higher ratings.
Update 28/6/24: this place is now 100% our fav on Kapas. Absolute must try is the iced lemon tea, nasi goreng tom yam, and the burger 🍔. It’s obvious that Makcik Mira (Amaria) and her husband do this out of passion and pure pleasure of bringing joy to others through food.
Update 12/4/25: Kak Mira is back with a vengeance. Must...
