Sunset Bar is a lively spot to spend an evening by the sea, but the food and entertainment can be a real hit-or-miss experience depending on what you order and when you go. Starting with the food: the pizza we tried was passable but not memorable – the toppings were acceptable, yet the crust left much to be desired and felt rather unappetizing. The vegetable dishes leaned too heavily on salt, which overshadowed any natural freshness they might have had. On the brighter side, the stingray was a highlight of the evening. Fresh, tender, and paired with a lovely sauce, it truly stood out among the dishes. The grilled chicken also had great potential – juicy and well-seasoned – but unfortunately, by the time it reached us, the sea breeze had cooled it down, taking away the enjoyment of it being just off the grill. The sotong, sadly, was the weakest of the dishes. It lacked flavour and failed to hold its own among the stronger plates on the table. The Ma Po Tofu was also disappointing in terms of taste, although I’ll give credit to the generous portion size for the price point. The Thai food was perhaps the most underwhelming category; the pictures looked enticing, but what arrived fell far short of the promise. The tom yum in particular felt like drinking soup made from seasoning flakes rather than the rich, aromatic broth one would expect. If you’re visiting, I’d suggest skipping the Thai stall altogether. On a more positive note, there’s a dessert store nearby that’s quite interesting and worth exploring after your meal – a nice way to end the evening if the mains don’t thoroughly impress. As for the ambience, the seaside setting is pleasant, but the live band didn’t quite deliver the atmosphere we were hoping for. It’s worth checking in advance who will be performing, as the experience can vary greatly depending on the singer. Overall, Sunset Bar has its charms, especially with the setting and some seafood options, but you’ll need to choose your dishes carefully. Go for the stingray or grilled chicken (if fresh and hot), skip the Thai fare, and round off the night with dessert while enjoying...
Read moreUnenjoyable experience. Funniest thing happened was the waiter kept saying, "let me get my manager" every other second. It has no smoking signs but the waiter was letting people smoke and vape, not nice when we're eating. My mixed vegetable dish wasn't very mixed (it was 90% cauliflower), waiter said it was meant to be that when I said I wanted something with broccoli and Pak choi (there was none). My rice came nearly 20 mins after the vegetables came out, it was bland and I asked for soya sauce and I was told it's a 5 mins wait for it. My mother's dish came 50 mins later after everyone else's food came and the wrong size. Items ordered didn't come. Extremely poor coordination and I wouldn't eat...
Read moreExcellent location to enjoy the sunset view. Other than seafood and beer, it also have some stalls which selling Thai food, snacks such as egg roll, bubble tea.
It's a good place to chill.
However, the service still have a gap to improve. The seafood need to order and pay separately, when we go to counter and we been wait for 20 minutes and been long queue after me, the cahsier unable to solve the POS issue. While our seafood is served, nobody serve us with the plates and cutlery. And, we been call for 2 times till 3rd time and I show my anger they only do fast reaction. Hope the management can improve it and provide more excellent service...
