During our honeymoon stay at Anantara Veli, one of the most enjoyable parts of our experience was dining at Cumin, the resort’s South Asian-inspired beachfront restaurant. The setting is beautiful, relaxed yet refined, and the food and service were consistently excellent throughout our stay.

We had daily breakfasts at Cumin and returned twice for dinner. Across each visit, we were impressed not just by the variety and presentation of the dishes, but by the noticeable quality of the ingredients used. Everything tasted fresh, carefully prepared, and full of authentic flavour. My wife, in particular, was so taken by the taste of their house-made coconut jam that she purchased two bottles to bring home. It was a true testament to the quality and uniqueness of the food offered here.

On our last night at the resort, we were touched by a beautiful and personal gesture from the Cumin team. They surprised us with a sand-crafted drawing of a fish, arranged directly on our table and accompanied by a handwritten “See You Again” message. It was an incredibly thoughtful and creative send-off, showcasing the team’s attention to detail and genuine hospitality. Moments like these made our stay at Anantara Veli truly memorable.

We would also like to thank Nabith and Ibrahim, two staff members who served us during multiple meals. They were polite, warm, and incredibly attentive, making sure we were comfortable while also adding a personal touch to each interaction.

Additionally, we wish to express our gratitude to the front-of-house lady who welcomed us so kindly every time we dined. Although we did not manage to catch her full name, we recall that it started with the letter “D.” We hope this message can be passed along to her as well. Please extend our thanks for her warm and professional hospitality.

Overall, Cumin is not just a restaurant. It is a place that reflects the heart of Anantara Veli’s hospitality through its food, people, and service. We highly recommend it to anyone visiting the resort who seeks an experience that is both satisfying...

A Heavenly Indian and Maldivian Culinary Experience at Cumin in Anantara Veli, Maldives

As someone initially hesitant about diving into spicy Indian cuisine, Cumin in the picturesque Anantara Veli resort was a revelation. Thanks to the warm welcome from Logu, the restaurant’s manager, my hesitations quickly melted away.

A Warm Welcome From the moment we arrived, Logu extended unparalleled hospitality. He not only made us feel immediately at home but also elevated our dining experience into a cherished, unforgettable occasion.

Spices and Flavors The culinary expertise at Cumin shone through in their brilliantly executed dishes. The Lal Mirch Murg Tikka Masala was a harmonious blend of spice and creaminess. Joining the lineup was Murg Dhaniya Korma, a rich and creamy chicken curry infused with the flavors, showcasing another dimension of Indian culinary artistry.

Local Flavors Complementing the Indian fare was Fihunu Mas, a Maldivian grilled fish delicacy. Marinated to perfection, the dish stood as a testament to Cumin’s capability to celebrate both Indian and Maldivian culinary traditions.

Staff and Ambiance Beyond Logu, the entire staff were not just knowledgeable but genuinely passionate about the cuisine they served. Their willingness to explain each dish and its historical and cultural context turned our meal into an enlightening experience.

Conclusion If you're staying at Anantara Dhigu or Anantara Veli in the Maldives, missing out on dining at Cumin would be a culinary injustice. Under Logu's attentive and personable management, the restaurant promises an unforgettable gastronomic experience. Whether you are a seasoned aficionado of Indian cuisine, eager to explore Maldivian dishes, or both, Cumin will leave you eagerly awaiting...

This was our favorite restaurant at Anantara both for breakfast and dinner. The atmosphere is the perfect balance between elegance and comfort.

The service is excellent. Logu and his team is attentive, knowledgeable, and passionate about the menu, offering thoughtful recommendations without being intrusive. Every detail is considered, and it’s clear they strive to provide an unforgettable experience for every guest. Their service is simply incredible.

Each dish is a masterpiece, thoughtfully crafted with the freshest ingredients. The flavors are bold yet perfectly balanced, and the presentation is exquisite. From the appetizers to the dessert, every bite is a delightful revelation. The chef has truly mastered the art of blending innovation with tradition, creating dishes that feel both familiar and...

This was our favorite breakfast place and dinner place. Love that it's a la carte for breakfast too, staff are very friendly, very attentive, and prompt. Atmosphere is very chic and modern 👌 breakfast was all you can eat, but instead of buffet style, you order from a menu and it is brought to you. Our go to was latte, fresh squeezed orange juice, Arabic mezze, fish platter, and variety of hot dishes. We tried almost everything on the menu and everything was delicious. They also always bring a plate of variety of tropical fruits and baked goods.

This was my personal favourite restaurant at anantara! I wish I had a chance to dine here again. The vibe and anterior are great! We tried the starter plate and it was so good! For main course we had the crab curry and a chicken main dish “forgot the name” and both were perfect except for being slightly spicy despite us requesting it to be mild.. but it was still delicious. We also tried the mango lassi and the gulab jamun , both were good! The service was beyond great.. the waiters and hostess were very hospitable!
