When you have such a bad experience you start questioning if many positive reviews are genuine, and most of them seem crafted on purpose. Actually this place changed name recently and apparently did so to clear a previous bad reputation, that’s what we heard. Our experience was bad in terms of service, food and cleanliness of the restaurant. If you ever take the wrong decision to go there just have a look at the customer toilet dangerously adjacent the kitchen. Disgusting. Food stock was on the floor between the kitchen and the toilet. We have been served fish that was defrosted and the octopus so chewy and cold that was not edible. Juices were a joke as they were a small quantity watered down and in dirty glasses. Waiters didn’t care when we politely ask to amend the bad food and didn’t even flinch when we politely decided to leave. In local island in Maldives standards are very low for food and accommodation but Sea Salt takes this to a lower level, with prices that are 4 times what I would pay...

We found this restaurant just by coincidence and we are very glad for it. It's a nice local place. We had really great two dinners here and could not complain on nothing. Even the staff speaks only little english(or just few of them) they are very friendly, as in most of the places. They use quite a lot of chili in the meals, which was ok for me, but if u want less they will prepare it according to your wishes. The waiting time for the meals is somewhat longer, but its worth of it. The prepared dishes were always fresh and very tasty! And on a holiday we got no need to hurry :). We had their home made Ice tea, which was the best ice ever! Made from real tea, nice cold and refreshing. Really great! At the end of visit we received their own small bananas as a gift(twice), which was an additional nice touch. Our visit took place during the Ramadan period and had never an issue to get food or drink even during the day! Really...

Decent food ruined by ridiculous water charge and rude staff

Visited Sea and Salt recently, and while the food itself was decent, the overall experience left a bad taste.

I was shocked to be charged for plain drinking water—served in a non-sealed glass bottle that I couldn’t take with me or even finish. This wasn’t mineral or packaged water, just regular drinking water. When I questioned it, the staff responded rudely with a casual “everyone pays”—zero explanation, zero courtesy.

To the management: You may want to revisit how your team is trained to handle customers. Hospitality isn't just about serving food—it's how people feel when they leave. I left feeling disrespected and overcharged for something as basic as water.

Would not recommend based on service alone. A disappointing experience that overshadows any...

A hidden gem on Ukulhas! Sea Salt Restaurant is a bit outside the main tourist zone, but it’s absolutely worth the short walk. Since the new Sri Lankan chef started cooking here, the quality and flavor have gone up dramatically — the seafood is always fresh and perfectly seasoned. Their grilled reef fish and seafood curry are amazing, full of authentic spice and cooked to perfection. The outdoor garden area is cozy and peaceful, with lights hanging between the palms, giving the place a relaxed island vibe. Service can take a little longer sometimes, but that’s just island time — everything is freshly made, and it’s worth the wait. If you want to try real local-style seafood in a calm setting, Sea Salt is definitely the place to go!

Nice restaurant with super fast service (for Maldivian standards). Food is good, although the value for the money is not so good. Anyway the only significant downside is that they avoid making the food a little bit spicy for the tourists, so sometimes it tastes lame. I suggested the owner to ask at taking the order, if the guest wants no, little bit or normal spicy food. Normal would be half their normal, and he welcomed the suggestion. Anyway, warm recommendation.

It's a lovely spot to dine. The outdoor garden dining area is under fairy lights and has an amazing atmosphere. The food is good and so is the service. Had a large grilled lobster. My only negative was that it took a long time to come out, and we were the only ones there. I think it was a frozen lobster and it was overcooked, making the meat a bit tougher than it should be. Otherwise a nice place to.eat and the prices are very reasonable.
