Yesterday, we had the pleasure of dining at Barbajean. It was truly a wonderful experience, from the moment we set foot in the establishment. Firstly, we were greeted by a kind and professional waiting staff - the true definition of service with a smile. They continually checked on us throughout our meal and poured our drinks. The bathrooms were clean and the overall decor is incredibly unique. Secondly, the food was divine, through and through, starting with the appetizers: the scotch egg with a Maltese twist is a must when visiting this restaurant! My husband ordered the fried ravioli which were mouth-watering: crispy on the outside and gooey on the inside, as they should be. With respect to the entrees, we ordered the rigatoni cacio e pepe and the gnocchi with stilton cheese. we were pleasantly surprised to see a large portion size and in fact, we ask to take the rest home as we could not finish it! Finally, we were given such a lovely treat when ordering our desserts! We had casually mentioned that we had been there celebrating our anniversary and along with the divine pannacotta that we ordered, we were surprised with a huge sparkler and two glasses of prosecco on the house, accompanied by all the waiting staff wishing us a 'Happy Anniversary'. My only 'criticism' would be the music: it is rather loud and personally, not my taste in music (deep house/techno-style music). Perhaps on the weekend, it could be switched to light Jazz or any other sort of music that is not too heavy. You will definitely be seeing us again! Well done <3

I am writing to express my utmost appreciation for the exceptional dining experience my partner and I had at your restaurant last Wednesday for Truffle Night. From the moment we stepped through the door, we were enveloped in an atmosphere of warmth and sophistication. The ambiance set the perfect tone for what turned out to be an unforgettable culinary journey. The star of the evening was undoubtedly the exquisite truffle-infused dishes crafted by Chef Jean, Chef Rakesh, and Chef Brendon. Each dish was a masterpiece, expertly prepared and bursting with flavor. The creativity and skill that went into every plate were truly remarkable, showcasing the culinary prowess of your talented team. I must also commend the impeccable service provided by the waitresses Kareen, Ada, and Clara. They were attentive, friendly, and went above and beyond to ensure that our dining experience was nothing short of perfect. Their professionalism and genuine passion for hospitality truly enhanced our evening. Overall, our Truffle Night experience exceeded all expectations. It was a celebration of fine dining at its finest, and we left your restaurant feeling thoroughly impressed and satisfied. Please extend our heartfelt gratitude to Chef Jean, Chef Rakesh, Chef Brendon, Kareen, Ada, Clara, and the entire staff for their outstanding efforts. We cannot wait to return to your restaurant for another memorable dining experience. Thank you for setting the standard for excellence in culinary and hospitality.

To my mind the quaint village of Dingli is an unlikely location for this restaurant. But then again, it isn’t, if you know what I mean. It’s a great restaurant and not offering typical fare, hence the question above. Yet again, it’s use of traditional and seasonal ingredients with a modern touch and flair makes it rather the opposite of what I just said. So where to start ? Lovely premises and great servers to greet you with a warm smile. Decor, furnishings, fittings all great, functional and smart - nice designer touches throughout. Menu has a nice mix for all tastes and caters well for the wide market requirements we have nowadays. We started off with the anchovy fritters, cheese doughnuts and scotch egg in Maltese sausage. What a great start - very tasty, very nice side sauces and so good. The mains did not disappoint either - we had a very tasty lamb rump, veal entrecôte and chicken - truly lovely dishes. Tried to get out of desserts, but the smiling server wouldn’t allow us not to try the imqaret and the crème brûlée- and she was right!!! What I expected to be very expensive, considering the 2 bottles of wine, coffees and all, was actually quite reasonable and I will definitely recommend this restaurant if you’re ever in Dingli
