2 stars not for the food but for the poor service and treatment. Very good food, high standard restaurant, nothing to say about the quality of the ingredients but the arrogant service is not standard at all and spoils the culinary experience. We had booked a week in advance to be sure of having a good table for 3 people. Once we arrive, there is no one on the terrace and we are given the last table off the terrace which was on the street (the smallest table at that). We had the impression of having arrived unexpectedly and having received the last table left. However, we had booked a long time in advance so it was not acceptable for us to find ourselves on the street eating. This table should only be offered as a last option to people who have not reserved and wish to eat at all costs, but in no case to people who have reserved, especially given the high prices charged at the restaurant (we do not come book and pay more than normal to end up eating on the street). In short, after negotiation with the waiter, we got a table on the terrace. The waiter will have no standing attitude, we feel he is disturbed, maybe we were not their VIP clients... in short we will finish our meal and the terrace will be almost empty. We would have eaten the whole meal on the street with no one still on the terrace. Abused. As a result, the people who were supposed to have our table on the terrace were in fact only two people and arrived when we were leaving. So the staff actually wanted to put three of us, reservation made in advance, on the worst and smallest table, while putting the two people on the bigger one. No logic... it's a shame because the concept is good and the food excellent but the service cuts the whole experience. We really felt unwelcome. My Maltese friends recommended it to me, maybe it was because they were Maltese.. who knows.. In years living here, I felt much more welcomed in the nearby...
Read moreI had the pleasure of dining at this charming Italian restaurant in Malta that specializes in focaccia, and I can't help but rave about the extraordinary experience it offers. What sets this place apart is not only its mouthwatering focaccia but also its stunning outdoor seating area.
The moment you step onto the outdoor terrace, you're transported to a Mediterranean paradise. With a picturesque view of the azure sea and a gentle breeze, it's the ideal setting for a memorable meal. The ambience alone is worth a visit.
Now, let's talk about the food. Their focaccia is a work of art. I started with the classic Rosemary and Olive Oil focaccia, which was baked to perfection. The crust was crispy, the crumb tender, and the flavors were authentically Italian. The aroma alone was enough to whet the appetite.
But the true magic lies in their creative twists on focaccia. The Truffle and Mushroom focaccia was a revelation, a heavenly blend of earthy mushrooms and the unmistakable aroma of truffle. The Prosciutto and Arugula focaccia was a delightful combination of salty and fresh flavors that danced on my taste buds.
The restaurant's commitment to quality extended to their pasta dishes, which were masterfully prepared and served with delectable sauces. The wine selection perfectly complemented the Italian dishes, making for a well-rounded dining experience.
The service was impeccable, with attentive staff who made every effort to ensure a delightful evening. And when it came to dessert, the Tiramisu was the pièce de résistance.
In summary, this Italian restaurant in Malta is a hidden gem for those seeking exquisite focaccia in a breathtaking outdoor setting. It's a place where the ambiance, the food, and the service come together to create an unforgettable dining experience. I can't recommend it enough – a true Italian culinary gem in the...
Read moreI made a reservation and booked for the outside tables. When I got there, only one of the tables was already taken. Among all the tables available in the outdoor section there was just one literally on the street, all the others are on a nice platform. The waiter insisted on having my partner and I seat on the only street table, despite all the others on the platform being empty. We repeatedly asked him to be seated in one of the 2-pax tables on the platform and we were told they were already booked. Now, I’ve worked in restaurants and I’ve been to this one before. My question is: when you book a table, you book A table (general) not a specific one, there is no possibility of choosing table X or Y or Z. So since we were among the first to arrive, why did we have to be treated like the lesst important customers and be seated on the “worst” table as if there was no space left? On previous visits I have never been treated like that by the red-haired Italian guy, so I can only hope that it was only this specific waiter to have 0 care about Bottega Frawli’s customers. Result: we had no other option than to leave and go back home after coming all the way from the other side of the island in a taxi. The cherry on top of the cake was that it was our anniversary, so thanks for ruining it, -10/10 customer service👌🏻 Male,...
