Piatto Nero Mediterranean Restaurant — Restaurant in Mellieha

Day before we were leaving, we decided to check hotels restaurant piatto nero. We were like yeah, well maybe this one keeps the level. Vain hopes, nope. We attended , waiter came to our table and ignoring me said to my partner “good afternoon Sir” and gave him menu and after that he decided to look at me and give me menu too, no words said. kill me if “ladies first” is not the rule in every restaurant not even fancy ones like piatto nero is aspiring to be. So, here we are. Im woman so im being ignored, we ordered i asked if its possible to change gnocchi cacio e pepe for pasta, without asking kitchen - absolutely impossible. Okay, i took bolognese. In meantime we were given appetizer - suprise suprise buns we see on breakfasts! And butter in plastic package. You know this one for tourists. Like reallllyyy? Im used to fresh baked own bread and maybe OWN garlic butter and some toppings like maybe olives ??? Wow. No comment. Bolognese was good, big portion - like everywhere in malta. My partner ordered pizza. I wasnt served parmigiano, he wasnt served olive to pizza. Great. Again here we go - i asked for it. Like I HAD TO ASK FOR IT. And caboom im getting- some … i dont know WHAT but tasteless powder which supposed to be parmesan. What a circus. Like… seriously ? In XXI century, 2024 year you serve some fake powder cheese and expect that anyone will believe that its good quality italian parmesan (sicily is just a stone's throw away) pathetic. I swear. We finished, i blow up my cigarette and im asking for ashtray. Sure no problem. Well, obviously it was a problem because later on i asked 2 times more i saw that waiter understood and … i never got it. So if we adjust to climate of this place, unhappy, dissapointed and disgusted i put out my ciagarette in empty glass after drink. Well. Sorry not sorry. People are there for punishment. Or maybe clients this so called 4 stars hotel are in fact some ignorants which never ate good food in decent classy places? No idea. I...

Amazing restaurant! Server Amir took care of us and was attentive the entire time. We started off with a pizza Margherita, great starter. My husband ordered the house burger, it was cooked to my husbands liking, the patty was juicy and delicious. I ordered the fish of the day, I was shown the fish before cooking, asked how I want it done, you can choose it as a whole or have the chef prepare it as a fillet. The delicious and VERY filling lunch was finished off with a cup of tasty cappuccino & chocolate lava cake with ice cream. It was warm, delicious. No complaints. Last year it was a brilliant restaurant this year worst food I ever tasted! Ravioli tasted like sweets literally and the sauce was so sweet it was uneatable Ribeye uneatable Calamari in sauce - so salty and chewy uneatable Crunchy pork - no crunch whatsoever and extremely dry and again sweet it had more raisins than anything else. Tartar of fresh sea bass fish - instead we got a carpaccio of frozen grey fish again uneatable. And be prepared to wait for over an hour and a half for the food. Only the burger was good so if you really have to eat here just go for the burgers. Also very sorry to say but half the staff do not understand English or Maltese...
