Disappointing Experience at NAAR Restobar
Our work colleagues and I chose NAAR Restobar for our Christmas party, expecting a festive and seamless evening. Unfortunately, the experience was far from satisfactory due to poor preparation and a lack of professionalism by the staff, particularly the manager.
Key Issues: Electricity Problems: Upon arrival, the venue was without electricity, meaning the sound system couldn’t function. For a restaurant that caters to events, it’s unacceptable not to have a backup plan, such as a portable wireless speaker. This lack of foresight significantly impacted the atmosphere. Incompetent Troubleshooting: After power was restored, the manager continued to make excuses, stating the speakers were awaiting a technical team or had been ruined by the outage. The inconsistent explanations reflected poor crisis management and a lack of transparency. Kitchen Mismanagement: We were greeted by fumes and white smoke from the kitchen, apparently caused by a non-functional extractor fan. This raised concerns about ventilation and overall safety. Moreover, the finger food was served hastily and seemed rushed, possibly in anticipation of further generator issues. This gave the impression that the kitchen staff prioritized convenience over guest satisfaction.
Suggestions for Improvement: • Invest in contingency solutions, such as portable speakers and functional generators. • Train staff, especially the manager, in troubleshooting and crisis management. • Maintain kitchen equipment properly and ensure food preparation aligns with expected quality, even during unforeseen circumstances.
I have to say, that the food was very good and of good quality.
The evening was disappointing, especially given NAAR’s reputation. With better planning and professional handling of such scenarios, the experience could have been salvaged. I hope the management takes this feedback constructively to improve...
Read moreMy partner and I were passing by Naar and we were tempted by deliciously looking vegan menu (quite hard to find in this area). We booked a table for the next day and we were given a different menu to what they advertise outside of the restaurant. We were informed by the waitress that they are unable to serve the options we were interested in. The whole menu was misleading, limited vegan options were not even labelled vegan (their vegan burger). We chose the vegan tacos for a starter and they were decent but overpriced for what it was. Then for a main we settled for a salad and a stir fry which the waitress confirmed will be made vegan. We have been waiting for an hour whilst people next to us who arrived later got their food and left. After an hour of waiting, we received a bland salad with overcooked sweet potatoes and beetroot that didn't seem roasted as well as 4 tiny slices of orange. My partner's stir fry was liquidy and vinegary. The best thing we ordered were french fries. When the waiter came to collect our plates and asked why we didn't eat, we said the food wasn't good and it was disappointing. We said the best things were the fries and the waiter smiled and walked off. We took the bill and did not feel like paying a service charge as the food was underwhelming and the restaurant staff just did not care. We were disappointed as the menu looked very promising and the venue...
Read moreVery disappointed with our experience at NAAR this evening. My partner and I Arrived and were seated outside. Ordered a cocktail each and they were nice but pricey for what it was compared to others in Malta. My partner ordered the rib eye steak whilst I had the penne chicken pancetta. Food and drinks arrived fast enough. The let down was the food. My penne pasta I found to be undercooked and Al dente - could have done with an extra few minutes in the pot. My partner’s steak arrived with an orange looking puree underneath it which I found quite strange as it wasn’t your typical pepper sauce. This puree was also never described on the menu. My partner is also very fussy when it comes to his sauces and wouldn’t have eaten this if he knew what it was. I asked the waiter when she was taking away the plates and she didn’t know herself what it was, she had to ask the kitchen. She then came back and said it was a pumpkin sauce. The sauce wasn’t even presented in a nice manner. It appeared to be slapped onto the plate. Not once throughout the meal nor when the waiter was collecting the plates or handing us the bill were we asked was everything okay. Again, very...
