I had guacamole and Suadero tacos. I was told by some people that this place is authentic Mexican. Friday evening the place was jam-packed but I didn't flinch and asked for take away as I was held up in a pub nearby. It was easily the worst food I had in years. Let's break it down: The Guac was so bland it most likely had a british passport. Absolutely no flavors whatsoever. Avocado puree without seasoning. No, I'm being too harsh it did have a hint of citrus as advertised but all in all it was just plain terrible. It came with some nachos which was home-made as advertised. I really wish they weren't. It was the worst nachos I have ever had the misfortune to cross paths with. Burnt by the looks of it but somehow charred by the taste of it. Every single bite was a misery in its own right. The beef tacos were full of meat (don't get me wrong that would be a good thing) however this meat was of sub optimal quality. There was barely any seasoning on top, a few bits of onion and some cilantro only for the looks. The tortilla was just as burnt and deliberately awful as for the nachos. That's not all because the meat was so salty that it provided me with enough sodium for the entirety of next week. Mexican food should be flavorful and it was unexplainably salty as if it came out of the Mediterranean that's only a few meters aways from the entrance of this dumpster fire of a place. The tacos came with "salsa rója cruda" on the side, I honestly thought it could be the saving grace. Mind you it absolutely wasn't. Somehow they managed to make a simple red salsa unpalatable as it was salty (of course it was) and somehow incredibly bitter. Had there been any other flavor to help this trainwreck of a "dish" that would've been something. I tried eating what I had but the constant urge to vomit didn't let me finish even though I was extremely hungry at the time. The rest I threw in the garbage whereas it should've been burned with this whole place around it. At least it wasn't cheap. While writing this I've just burped and it was the saltiest, most bitter and vile taste...
Read moreI had an amazing experience at Taco Bar in St. Julian’s. The atmosphere is cozy, welcoming, and feels authentically Mexican — a perfect spot to relax and enjoy great food. We started with their house white wine, which was crisp and refreshing, and I tried the Tequila Hermana cocktail — potent yet beautifully balanced with pomegranate, easily one of the highlights of the evening. The food was absolutely fantastic. We had pulled beef tacos on corn tortillas and the suadero starter, both full of rich, authentic flavor. For mains, the lamb soup with rice and chickpeas and the pulled lamb cooked in banana leaves with corn tortillas (a true showstopper) were hearty, comforting, and delicious. The chicken enchiladas were also excellent, perfectly seasoned and satisfying. Dessert was just as impressive — the cajita flan was creamy and smooth, and the dish with Mexican star-shaped pancakes served with caramel and vanilla ice cream was indulgent and unique. From start to finish, everything — food, drinks, and atmosphere — was outstanding. Highly recommended for anyone looking for an authentic Mexican dining experience...
Read moreWe went to dinner, thinking there were levels of spiciness. We ordered a “Birria taco” because we asked him which one was the least spicy, and he explained to us that it was barely spicy. We didn't want spicy food. We also ordered another plate of nachos, chicken, egg and cheese, but they forgot to put the chicken. The worst thing is that it was very little, even though we had said that we did not want spicy, they did not warn us about the level of spiciness of that dish. When the waiter saw that we weren't eating, he asked us why and we explained that it was excessive. We were surprised by the waiter's response, because he said that we had not asked him about the level of spiciness. He didn't give us the option to change it, since we couldn't eat. We recommend that you specify the different levels of spiciness on the menu. At the end, we asked for the bill and they wanted to charge us more. We paid €31 for 3 spicy tacos, a dish that lacked chicken and was excessively spicy, and a large bottle of water.
