The Crafty Cat Irish Pub — Restaurant in Saint Julian's

long story short Good selection of craft and standard beers, decent selection of spirits, ok food, Guinness available (always good to know 😛)

I had a stop over in Malta on my way to Greece so I decided to visit this place as I love Irish beer. Nice venue, decent beers, food ok but it would not be my first place when it comes about food. Right in front of the ocean, it’s a nice pub. It was a quiz night, not a huge fan of that kind of vibes, I rather prefer some good music but it wasn’t too bad. I had a burger and it didn’t impressed me too much, it was ok, fries with ipa sauce where terrible, kind of tasteless melt led cheese on top of some fries. Decent selections of beers on tap and bottled ones, staff was polite and nice. All the deco is made in Alice n wonderland style. Pretty crowded for a Tuesday night, don’t know if you can book a table but chances to find it fully booked are pretty high, I rather go there earlier, it was empty when I arrived at 8 pm and packed when I left at 11 pm. They do have Guinness beer as any respectable irish pub should have! It deserve a visit if you are looking for a decent beer and friendly...

Ok good things first, really nice, pleasant and efficient staff, good atmosphere. Now, bad things, took almost an hour to get our food, (6 diners, no one else eating at that time in the pub so you can't tell me they were over run). When our food finally arrived it was very disappointing. Two chicken kievs, very dry chicken. Two bangers and 'mash', sausages were ok but they came swimming in a packet brown sauce and a instant style potato 'mouseline' purée, very liquid, not very hot and not at all appetising. A chilli con carne that was again dry, no sauce, no red kidney beans, and not eaten. Last meal, grilled chicken with fried rice, inedible, they didn't charge us for this meal as it wasn't eaten at all. Side order of onion rings, disgusting, full of cooking oil. So not good, basically we won't eat there again. I realise it's a pub with pub food but the food has to be at least edible, c'mon guys! Very hot in the pub, terrible smell of greasy food cooking permeating the whole area. Lots of work to bring this place up to scratch, I hope this review helps you pinpoint a few...

What an amazing place, funky but friendly and very welcoming. Great selection of drinks from craft beers, cocktails and spirits.. food was amazing also, with a great menu..

Felt so comfortable and relaxed and must of spent 5 hours just chilling and drinking talking to locals and other customers while we sat playing card between me and my good lady that he let us use from behind the bar

Didn't want to leave 😪

Highly recommend if you like a Alice and wonder land themed pub and wish we had more time to check out the other 3 pubs all themed around the same story in different places in Malta
