With my wife we had two drinks. We were not guest of the hotel but we were allowed to sit on a bar. Firstly was the atmospere strange and unfriedly because the beach stuff of the hotel asked us to leave the place. We tell them tahat want only a cocktail and not to stay on the beach in resort. It makes me feel strange but on the other hand I got the point the people tahat paied for it want to have peaceful holiday. Finally everybody were very professional and friendly. We had two cocktails and they were outstanding. You can buy cocktails anywhwre in restaurants in flic en flac but this is new level. I am happy I triedy to ask for one. The price is higher (aprox 750 rupiee for one) but it is worthy. I saw on the bar my few favourite whiskies but not something special. You can find ordinary single malt but I think is enough for most of people. But for me I would preffer higher whisky standard. Other services I cannot juge because I did not try them. Overall I liked it and it ws fine. I you go along definitelly stay for a drink. And you can chceck the teception of the hotel. I think you cannot be a guest to reserve some...
Read moreVery unwelcoming reception here at Buddha Bar. After telling the waitress we were not guests of the hotel, to which the immediate response was, 'Sorry the hotel is full, we cannot serve you.' which was of course what she had been told to say by a manager, we looked around to see an almost empty bar... The poor waitress went to speak with a manager to confirm if we were allowed to grace the establishment with our business, only to be shouted at in full view of us, and for what? Asking whether we could order a few drinks on a hot day. The management might as well as come to our table to call us such fools for the audacity of ordering drinks in a bar. If this is the type of management behind Sugar Beach hotels, I am glad we avoided booking here. Management needs to pull up their socks or ship out ASAP. P.S. a hotel of several hundred rooms which can't find the ingredients to make a chocolate milkshake needs to seriously reevaluate how it is serving all of it's guests to the best of...
Read moreThe bar is situated on the beach. While lovely, the design includes many tables whose views of the sea are blocked by stages and columns. It is also set low to the ground. This meant that people on the beach will appear in the sunset view pictures taken from the tables at the bar. It is not as thoughtfully designed as bars at other resorts. Your sundowner experience will depend on where they seat you.
Regarding service, our waiter was friendly but did not pay attention to our drinks. When we wanted a refill, we needed to wave him over after our glasses sat empty for a while. I also asked for an appetizer menu, which he never brought me. We ended up eating elsewhere.
The view from the bar is lovely, with Le Morne Brant and several other peaks in view at the far left of the beach. The drink menu is extensive, with many alcoholic and non-alcoholic options.
We had a nice visit, but the service and view are not exceptional enough that I...
