The place is nice with a very "aerated" and minimal design. I wager that this is what classic Mauritian fast food will/may look like in the future. Those that are use to have a quick lunch in classic Mauritian fast food restaurants (aka snack) will surely appreciate the decor and still feel at ease. Same for the food, it is a typical revisit of classic Mauritian noodles, simply boil with or without broth or stir fried. They even revisited the classic stir fried rice. I was at first a little disappointed because I couldn't find the japanese ramen with thick porc broth but after a couple of minutes of intense reading of the menu I opted for noodles with vegetable broth(?) and red chia siew topple with a stir fried egg. The broth or soups wasn't thick enough to be ramen but the overall was deliciously hot and spicy with a slight vegie aroma well mixed with the cha siew. I washed everything with a cold bubble tea that was just as perfect. It may be far from Japanese street food but then it is quite normal because it is Mauritian "snack" after all (much better than any in the league). It is worth the detour if you are heading north and hungry or even just curious. Service is okay (god I miss the old "Mauritian Chinese poker face" and the IDGAF attitude) they all smile at you as if you are the queen of England. Food sensei the best place to have a fun and tasty lunch. Not too pricey either but generally less than 15% more expensive than the classic "snack" but then the decor and the cleanliness of the place is...
Read moreGreat place for instagram photos & tiktok - bit pricey for just assembled meals - chicken may be blend and just mixed in the respective sauces. Parking at jumbo & cross the road to reach the snack. Avoid tofu since it was just like a deep fried sponge full of oil. Not an expert but it may be that all starters are fried in same frying oil. The top temputa chicken pieces are big and the buttom pieces are quite small... Serving bowls are very wide on top and very narrow on buttom, so many may not be happy with quantity vs to the price...weak AC for port louis heat. The only menu is displayed behind the counter i guess as a strategy to make impulsive purchases, create urgency, specially when there are people waiting behind ... Basically you have to select the base fried or plain, select veg or non veg and select sauce for free and possibility to add multiple add-ons. Be careful as the prices can shoot up very quickly so be careful with add ons... The servers are nice & polite but not great with recommendations... If you want to try - skip the fried starters, go straight to the main dishes - skip the add ons if on a budget & carry your own drinks as choices are limited to...
Read moreGood service, good food. A bit pricey. Can get better and more food in that money spent. The portions are adequate, not overwhelming. But the food is very tasty. I had a rice claypot topped with tempura chicken in a spicy szechuan sauce, topped with an over hard fried egg. The claypot is supposed to be rice and vegs and chicken cooked together from beginning or at some point. But mine was just all cooked seperately and served together. Rice was quite dry and the szechuan sauce was not enough to cover for the dryness. Overall it...
