During our adventure exploring the region, we stumbled upon a remarkable restaurant that became the highlight of our day. After an invigorating trek through the lush, verdant trails of Black River Gorges National Park, we decided to refuel at this gem of a dining spot. The experience was nothing short of extraordinary, particularly for its exquisite Indian cuisine. The Indian thali we ordered was hands-down the most delectable I’ve ever tasted, a vibrant medley of flavors that left a lasting impression. The paneer butter masala was an absolute standout, with its rich, creamy texture that melted in the mouth, perfectly balanced with aromatic spices. Equally impressive was the dhal makhani, masterfully prepared with a smooth, velvety consistency that paired divinely with the fragrant saffron rice, creating a deeply satisfying and wholesome meal. The restaurant’s ambiance elevated the experience further, blending elegance with a warm, inviting atmosphere. Adding to the charm was the exceptional hospitality of the owner, Mr. Nirvan Bappoo, whose attentiveness and genuine care for his guests shone through. He personally ensured that every detail of our meal was perfect, engaging with us warmly and making us feel truly valued. This restaurant wasn’t just a place to eat—it was a culinary haven that combined outstanding food, a captivating setting, and heartfelt hospitality, making it a memorable stop on our journey. Mr. Nirvan thoughtfully organized a delightful meal for us on our last day, before our long...
Read moreLast Sunday we did the 7 cascades hike with Nirvan. He is a fantastic guide, told us a brief history of Mauritius, pointed out native plants and gave us a brief description. He is very knowledgeable and kind. Throughout the whole hike he made sure we all felt safe and took great photos of us. He did not rush us and made us feel at ease. We really had an amazing time. After the hike we had lunch in his family restaurant and the food was divine. Served on fresh banana leaves, the selection was awesome, we could taste different varieties of dishes. It was delicious. The restaurant is newly decorated, clean and cosy. We highly recommend Nirvan as a guide and lunch is a must. Thank you again for such a...
Read moreI’m not a fan of leaving one star reviews, however it was not a very pleasant experience. After denying the super expensive menu (maybe the food is very good so it’s justified, I don’t know) we were given the local menu and ordered mine frite, chicken and seafood. As you can see on the pictures there was a maximum of 10grams of chicken/seafood on it and after discussing for several minutes with the waiter, the staff was so kind as to give us some more. It’s a shame because the interior of the restaurant is really beautiful and the taste itself...
