Had a fantastic lunch here on Saturday. The service was too notch. They were very attentive. The chef came out and explained each dish and made sure everything was to our liking. The spot is very pretty. The food was delicious. They can prepare the fresh catch of the day tiradito in two ways. We opted for the mezcal maracuyá dressing as we had something like this in Vietnam and wondered why more restaurants don’t do it. The fish always super fresh and the dressing was excellent. The octopus pork belly was perfectly balanced by the mole and the octopus was perfectly cooked so it was not tough or dry. My steak was also perfectly cooked. The mashed potatoes were real and not powdered which I hate. The desserts were also delightful. Special shout-out for the pear cinnamon roll because it’s the best I’ve had here and the fresh cardamom ice-cream went really well with it. Everything is made fresh from scratches their drinks were also very tasty. Definitely worth supporting this new chef in...
Read moreOur expectations were quite high, but unfortunately it was a disappointing experience. First of all, their wine list is very limited. When this was pointed out they were very apologetic and moved quickly to correct the mistake. Unfortunately the damage is done and you are now not eating your meal at the same time. The octopus dish I ordered was indeed tasty. But the amount of octopus was a tease. Lots of pork belly, which was tasty and far as the amount of potato goes, if I blinked I might have missed it was on the plate. They did provide a complimentary dessert as an apology for the screw up. It was a flan which was very good and was my chocolate tamale with...
Read moreThis place is amazing! Food was the best I've had in La Paz, drinks were great, and service was perfect. I would definitely recommend this as a date night spot, and the little garden in the entrance makes it feel super homey.
I had esquites with shrimp, and the pork belly with octopus for food. I wish I had taken photos, but it was too good, and I inhaled it lol. The photo posted was their house bread, butter, and macha (and it was equally delicious).
As someone who has worked over a decade in very upscale restaurants throughout Scottsdale and Phoenix, I know food, and Balam is now very close to the top on my favorite restaurants list. 12/10 recommend, and I will...
