Re: The Smokehouse. Just got back from Marlin fishing. I've done this trip about a dozen times over the years. Fishing in Los Barriles is hard to beat. However, avoid the temptation of having your fish smoked at the local smokehouse! They are crooks! Last year, when they "lost" my fish, I stood there as they pilfered everyone else's to make up for it. This year, they didn't have any marlin to sell one day, then the next day, they mysteriously had Marlin to sell, and my buddy and I both noticed the normal yield of our marlins had dropped from 40% to 25%. 25Lb yield of smoked marlin for a 100lb fish? Read moreWhile vacationing in Mexico, we stopped in for some lunch at Smokey's. We were a little early for the lunch crowd, so it wasn't too busy yet. The hospitality we received felt like we were royalty. We were directed to a table that "had the nicest breeze" and a few minutes later, two men came with a very large-screen TV and set it up beside us! These are two separate restaurants.... Now, as to Barriles grill... The food here is CONSISTENT and consistently good! Service was great. The menu has a lot shrimp and other seafood options. The salad was fresh and crisp...delicious. I love the salsa here. The young lady working speaks very good English and is always pleasant...
