FANTASTIC! HIDDEN GEM! We are restaurant owners and we understand front of house and back of house. Family owned and hands on run. Daughter has slowly but surely built an empire in paradise that checks every box. Best location on a great stretch of calm clear beach. The property hosts several cool and unique beachfront Airbnb rentals and kiteboarding school. Tropical oasis ambiance. Beautiful parking lot. Full bar. Quality cocktails expertly and beautifully made. Creative dishes. The sashimi serranito is ridiculously good and theres a something for everyone menu. Amazingly they do breakfast lunch and dinner all very well. French toast is ridiculously good. Great sand area for kids in eyesight of you while you eat and drink. La Playa has lots of potential. It's a beautiful venue, with the best view. The staff are friendly and engaged. We visited on Salsa (dancing) night, which was nice. Strangely, before and in between sets, the music was 80s metal. It didn't really suit the venue or concept, even if we knew every song, every word.

The main concern was the food quality. We were a table of six and no one enjoyed their food. There was nothing specifically wrong, just poor execution. All items needed better seasoning, more love. Small taco stands in town have outstanding food - El Viejo, Herman's or even the new place Dodo's. But La Playa would benefit from having someone in the kitchen checking the dishes. La Playa Restaurant and Bar, not to be confused with Playa del Sol a bit further south in town, can be a bit of a challenge to find, but it's worth the hunt. Where northbound Calle 20 de Noviembre makes a right angle turn to the west, head straight ahead onto the dirt road continuing north and then make a quick right. When the path ends at a T intersection, turn left and you will be there. This beautiful restaurant is right on the beach. Table options are indoors, outdoors, or directly in the sand on the beach.
