I called Chef Ruban to plan a Special chinese New Years Celebration for my Wife and he offered to get special crab on the menu. I called back that night to confirm our next day 5pm reservation and that he got the Crab.... Waiting 30 min walking around the restaurant we were Chased and almost attacked by 3 insane visous guard Dogs. A very scary experience with my 3 year old daughter and wife absolutely terrified, especially with a fellow kitesurfer was just attacked this morning and had to go to the Hospital. I was ready to fight the dogs. His dog is a pit pull the neighbour has another terrier.
Called chef Ruban he is chilling in La paz and not opening now today, says sorry he forget to tell us, He had my phone Number. Not a great way to celebrate new Years! Beyond let down, Still shocked he left us like that after planning a special night and agreed a few dishes at 300 pesos which is pricey. No apology and he actually asked if we can come back tomorrow! My wife who was so excited was very upset from the experience. At 6pm marlin azuls was packed and we could not wait 3hrs for food especially with my 3 year old! Never depend on chef Ruban, I'm so sad I trusted him. His dogs and the neighbours guard dogs are Nuts! Be carefull. If I could Give Zero stars I would. Worst...
Read moreWe ate here a 2 years ago and had one of the best meals ever for a very reasonable price! We were in town and thought we'd try it again.... The entree was two fish fillets over a mixture of veggies and beans. The portion was a bit small. The top fillet was cooked through and ok, but the bottom fillet on both of ours was cold, undercooked and raw toward the middle of the fillet! We couldn't finish it because it was not right. $800mxn for a very disappointing night. It was not a busy night either - we were the first to sit down and order. One other table of 8 sat after we had ordered. I hope this was...
Read moreChef Ruben brings subtle complexity to his dishes that rival the best restaurants we have eaten at around the world. Him and his team are a delight and clearly passionate about what they do, but that’s only a bonus to the flavours and textures on the plate.
While we have enjoyed many different meals in La Ventana, and will happily recommend them, Chef Ruben is doing something that no one else here is doing.
For specific recommendations, I suggest letting the Chef choose for you. For us in the two nights since they reopened, he has served us Chile Relleno de Camaron, Ribs, a scallop appetizer, Camaron Ajillo and a fish dish, all out...
