Read moreAn excellent choice, again! Four of us ladies met at Asao, two had been to El Valle de Guadalupe for a wine tasting and the other two of us did not. Instead we walked and shopped the sleepy streets of Tecate, this included a pause for an ice cold beer at the parque centro, we then met the other two at Asao.
Feeling like we missed out on Valle de Guadalupe, we asked if we could do a wine tasting at Asao as they feature Baja wines exclusively. We arrived at off peak hours and sat at the beautiful bar terrace with very private tables and fabulous views.
The sommelier (Elias) was wonderful, he arranged a personalized wine tasting of three local wines. The wines were a Chardonnay/Sauvignon -blanc/Viognier blend; a dry rose; and a red blend by Xecue. We paired the wines with four of their fabulous appetizers; our picks were a three cheese platter, beef carpaccio, a beautiful ceviche, and a cheese and mushroom flat bread.
Elias and Erick treated us like queens and it was all around $30/pp including a well-deserved generous tip! We felt pretty special and will be back, again!
We went on a Tuesday lunch hour, got lots of attention and border crossing was a breeze! Go, go, go!...
Read moreI ate here with my wife on 5/8/2021. This is a beautiful restaurant, great styling, open feeling with a great view. The service was excellent and the food was delicious. I found that the prices were very reasonable. We had a great time and enjoyed our meal and time together. We had the Korean Tacos, Mango Margaritas, I had the Caesar Salad and Rib Eye and my wife had the Tortilla Soup and the Rib Eye. For dessert, I have the cheesecake and my wife had the crapes. Everything was delicious. My only criticism is, the restaurant didn't have any music playing. Relaxing Jazz or Romantic Music would have really been nice. Also, the menu doesn't have very many options. I think that a couple more appetizer options and are not seafood would be nice. I would highly recommend this restaurant and my wife and I are already talking...
