Bakuss Oyster Bar — Restaurant in Baja California

One of my pet peeves in Mexico are watered down, expensive cocktails. I don’t know why it’s so prevalent in Mexico, but it’s a serious buzz kill. We went to Bakuss for drinks after Bloodlust and the server was super pushy about getting expensive bottle service and acted like a cracked out squirrel just bouncing around talking 4x normal speed.

Our cocktails were all cloyingly sweet and had little to no alcohol in them. At $13 each, I expect more. We ordered doubles and they bring baby shots to pour over the top despite stating they serve 45ml shots (1.5oz).

After going to 4 restaurants during a weekend in Valle this one by far was the worst value and service. It was almost twice as expensive as higher quality places nearby. The staff focused mostly on pushing expensive extra items and even pouring us more expensive wine than we ordered. It has a decent vibe if you're looking to feel like you're in a club spending lots of money (and unnecessarily do so). Great stunning place. New building, very modern, great drinks, great customer service but be mindful about going during the day. Lots of flies if you are in the outside bars. The building is not completed yet but you can tell it will be amazing once it’s done. My only recommendation is for them to work on the flies issue but besides that… totally worth it.
