Popotla Fishing Village is like stepping back in time, offering a glimpse into a world that has remained largely untouched by modernity, even as it has subtly evolved over the past decade. The charm of this village lies in its simplicity—dirt roads, families selling knick-knacks, and kids running freely between the beach and the streets. It feels like a time capsule, preserving a way of life that must have existed here many years ago.

If you're looking to escape the hustle and bustle of city life, Popotla is a must-visit. The atmosphere is laid-back and authentic, far from the crowded tourist spots. The highlight of any visit is the fresh seafood, caught daily and served in the many mom-and-pop restaurants that dot the village. The fish is as fresh as it gets, and the experience of dining here is one you won’t find anywhere else.

Popotla Fishing Village is not just a place to visit; it’s an experience that transports you to a simpler, more peaceful time. Whether you're strolling along the dirt roads or enjoying a meal by the beach, this village offers a refreshing break from the...

... alright here it is...if you expect clean beaches, American style beaches, no stray dogs...then this is NOT for you...this is a REAL fishing village area and food places are huts, dogs are everywhere, seaweeds and even some trash...however the area is an amazing place to experience the real Mexico and the real way fishing villages work and look...you can rent a table, get a cooler with ice and fill it with your poison...great place to spend it with the family and let kids just enjoy the ocean and sand...if you arrive around 9-1030 am you will find boats arriving from their fishing...you can buy directly from the fisherman and even have your items cleaned and gutted for a minimal fee...we have bought numerous types of fish, crabs, oysters, and lobsters when available...we take them back to our rental house and cook them ourselves or you can even have a nearby kitchen at the beach cook them for you and delivered to you and your family straight on...

This place is a legit mexican fiesta on the beach! Pay 50 pesos to park in the huge dirt lot. It's crowded walking in and there's fish everywhere. It smells but you get used to it after a few minutes. It's hectic and fun at the same time. I came as a tourist, staying in Puerto Nuevo. My wife and I went to Rosarito but it's a bit more party centric so we decided to stop at Popotla to check out the titanic but we ended up staying just experiencing a lazy sunday with the locals. If you've walked down the beach in Rosarito and had enough of that, try this place out. We paid 10 pesos to use the bano (bathroom) and that was an experience. We got Margs from a whole in the wall bar and walked the beach. Lots to look at. Food all over the place. 20 pesos for a bag of freshly made churros. I saw a legit mexican hot tub made in the sand with a tarp and the whole family it. It's just a unique...

Popotla is an old-school fishing village about 10 min. SOUTH of Rosarito. It is a unique find because fisherman bring the catch right from the ocean and you select what you want and one if the many restaurants/kitchens prepare it for you. Nothing fancy......just fresh seafood at a great price right on the beach. One tip, coming from Tijuana it is easy to miss so my suggestion is IF you are on the toll road get off in Rosarito so you can get to the parallel coast highway....look for the signs or the green (acqua) colored large concrete marker.
