We have eaten at Taco Factory on the Malecón in San Felipe a few times over the past few years while passing through town. We went back again April 3, 2023 as it had been good food and service before! We have even posted about it on our YouTube channel on previous trips through San Felipe. However we were disappointed this time. 1st with the server. She took our order, which was only 3 shrimp tacos and 2 chicken quesadillas. She took the menus away and then asked if we wanted to add guacamole and chips and we said sure. Figuring that was no more than a snack, and although we didn’t look at the price earlier we assumed it couldn't have been much $, while waiting for taco's and quesadillas! For the next hour our server only checked on us once, and the place wasn’t busy for a Tuesday around 6:30pm so we thought, thats not the usual for this place. Service had always been good before, busy, plenty of food and affordable! But this time… then came the bill! They charged us 220 pesos for a bowl of fresh guacamole and a small basket of tortilla chips!
3 shrimp tacos was 195 pesos and 2 chicken quesadillas was 165 pesos… so we questioned the server and manager about the 220 pesos for quac & chips! Thats about 11-12US for a snack and cost more than our meals! We thought maybe they would say we’ll adjust the $ on the G & chips! Nope!!!
So if in San Felipe and you want to grab dinner we’d suggest skip Taco Factory as there are plenty of other places along the Malecon in San Felipe. Definitely not going back to Taco...
Read moreThis restaurant/bar is literally right across from possibly the busiest section of the city. Positioned right at the popular Malecon and the famous giant San Felipe block letters that seemingly everyone wants a photo of. With with backdrop of the amazing Sea of Cortez and open airy windows that allow for spectacular views and breezes of the ocean, you simply cannot do better than this. As far as the food, I honestly imagined that because Taco Factory seemed like more of a tourist magnet, it wouldn't be great on food. Boy I was terribly mistaken. FRESH seafood. I had Tostada de camaron, Fish Taco, and Chipotle shrimp taco. Absolutely delicious. I highly advise requesting a bottle of 'crema' for the fish tacos which we did. Amazing. First stop and...
Read moreHonest review. We came here expecting some authentic food but you can't expect that in the most touristy spot where most tourists are less tan than most.
The food was tasteless. Mexican food should be very flavorful. This place was a fast food, feed the white man quickly and have him pay a high price because he's drinking kind of place.
If you want good Mexican food. Don't trust the 4/5 star reviews from BRIAN MCCAIN or whatever. Be a real tourist and find where the locals go.
Wait until it gets dark, especially on the weekends. That's when the stands come out and the aroma of real tacos fill the air.
If you eat at taco factory, be prepared to bring your...
