Cueva Séptimo — Restaurant in Cancún

First off I have to say the food is outstanding. And Daniel the waiter saved the night.

We arrived at 10pm for valentines dinner with reservations made for 10:15pm. When we arrived the hostess said our table would be ready in 15 minutes. After about 5 minutes the manager came out to tell us that our reservation was canceled. I showed him the confirmation email from OpenTable to prove my booking but he said they had no room for us. He said every OpenTable reservation was canceled that night. Yes, on Valentines day. He even showed us a full list of names and phone numbers of OpenTable customers who they canceled on.

We insisted that if they were canceling they should call and make other arrangements. He just looked and shrugged and said they were too busy. This guy shouldnt charge a phone let alone be in charge of a restaurant.

We pointed at a table that was about to leave and he said, they got their check but we wouldn't be allowed to have the table for no particular reason. The waiter seemingly overheard the conversation and came to our rescue. He said we could have the table and then proceeded to offer us a free glass of wine for the inconvenience. This guy knows service.

Once we got past the manager, we couldn't have been happier for our first time at this place. The steak is better than Sonora Grill or Harry's and at at a fraction of the price. The wine was delicious and priced right. The staff were there to help but not overbearing.

If Daniel had not have saved the day, we would never have given them a second chance let alone be here on Google raving about the place.

We had Christmas dinner at this elegant, well-appointed fashionable restaurant and were delighted from start to finish. Luis' dinner service was impeccable and his recommendations were spot on (the mezcal was the best I've ever had). The presentation rivaled the very finest US eateries we've frequented.
