The service was excellent, the steak was great, our other food was OK, and the atmosphere was good but slightly ruined by swarms of mosquitoes. I would recommend double checking your bill, but it was minor, see below.
All of the staff were very friendly, spoke great English, Spanish, and Spanglish. They were very attentive and I can't say that we have any complaints about the service directly. They did charge us twice for a bottle of water, which we noticed and just took out of the tip, and it was a fairly small amount so not a big deal, but also not the sort of "mistake" that a restaurant of this level should be making.
The steak we had was delicious, perhaps a little salty, but very good none the less. We also got a soup that was very interesting in its presentation (see video) and my partner enjoyed it, but it did not compliment the steak at all and I found it to be a bit too ambitious with its attempt at complexity. We also ordered some fries, which turned out to not be steak fries, as I had thought they would be in what appears to mostly be a steak house and were instead an attempt to recreate McDonald's fries, which should never be your goal for fries IMO.
The atmosphere was very nice and had a very positive feel to it. Sort of an Asian/Mayan hybrid theme. The seats were a bit much, stuffed with too many pillows that made it a bit awkward to sit, but once rid of the excess pillows it was not a problem. Our table was wobbly and made a crashing noise each time it shifted, but wasn't a huge problem, just again, slightly not at the level that the restaurant was trying to put itself at. Ultimately the big downside on the atmosphere was the swarms of mosquitoes, which sadly there is little they could have really done about due to the design of the restaurant, but it did negatively impact our enjoyment of it and we walked away with...

We arrived at Nizuc yesterday and were looking forward to having dinner at one of their restaurants. We looked through some of the menus and decided on La Punta because we were craving some seafood and some tasty tacos.
However, turns out the website displayed the lunch menu instead of the dinner menu. The actual dinner menu was quite limited and only had the option of 1.2kg of grouper instead of the many different other fish options we could have ordered on the lunch menu. It was also very difficult for the 2 of us to finish and we were left pretty stuffed at the end of the meal. Further to dampen the mood, our waiter took the wrong order and bought us some guacamole which we didn’t order.
The fish and guacamole were eventually pretty good but the trio of tostadas were pretty terrible, bland and soggy.
Overall I’m giving this restaurant 3 stars because the mood for the evening was dampened and even though the fish and guacamole were good, the price of the meal did not justify the level of service and...
Read moreMy wife and I ate here and tried the salad, tropical tuna tostada, shrimp with habanero tortilla, and Ahi tuna. All were prepared perfect and flavors were unique. This is on the ADULT side of the resort. To the person who complained about their 8 y/o child not being allowed at dinner, you should have realized where you made your reservation, this was not a new rule made recently. In addition, you may believe your child is fine for a two hour meal out, but others around you may differ. Website clearly state children over 12 y/o. And to answer the question, I am a...
