We had the pleasure of eating at Amatxi in Guanajuato today, it was a delectable experience. As appetizers we ordered jamon serrano croquets and guajillo mushrooms, delicious! We were a group of seven and ordered several dishes such as Sopa Serrana, Crema de Maiz, Pulpo Vasco, Filet Dijon, Chamorro, Solomillo Iberico, Fabada Asturiana (almost like my grandma's!) All the dishes were excellent. The only comment I would make is that they change the name of the corn cream to soup because, although it was very tasty, it was not creamy. Make sure you order your steaks a tidbit more cooked than what you enjoy because we had to return ours which were underdone. They offer a vast selection of Mexican and Spanish wines, we ordered a bottle of Casa Madero 3V which was exquisite. Service was very good, my brother forgot his sunglasses and they returned them. Excellent food, pleasant atmosphere, so-so service. The pulpo, steaks, and pintxos are outstanding!

Update 2022: we really enjoy the atmosphere and elegant food presentations. The pulpo is still a favorite along with the beet salad. Just 2 recommendations: I think the recipes haven't changed since we first came 3 years ago and for me to keep coming back I want to discover new items and new flavors in old standbys. Secondly, the techno-throb music does not enhance my experience... given the age of most customers, that may be true for others as well. (And I could be wrong about both of these!) I'll still be coming back, but with waning...
