We had a wonderful evening at Casa Morelos last night. We were immediately greeted by Javier, the owner of 24 years. The place was packed but he sat us at the bar and told us he would have a table for us in a few minutes. We had a barely touched our perfect margaritas when he showed us to our table. Our waiter was amazing and was always on the lookout and ready to respond. This seemed to be the case for all the wait staff and no doubt it is because Javier leads by example. He was constantly engaged throughout the restaurant. Making sure customers were looked after as well as clearing tables. When an owner is this engaged, it’s usually a sign of a great restaurant. The food matched the service and was exceptional. First the guacamole, followed by the squid, casa style and then the fresh tuna on Javiers recommendation. We finished the evening back at the bar with a Mezcal and were on our way. Great food, great service, great value. We’ll...
Read moreTourist trap! Honestly not sure why this place has so many good reviews. The food is over priced, dry, and no flavour to them at all. Ordered the 7 sea fajitas as per review recommendation below but what a disappointment! All the seafood was not that fresh and def over cooked. The octopus was really rubbery and there’s no taste to the food what so ever. The portion is on the small side as well. There were not any salsa or sauce served with it. Fish was so dry. Both the enchiladas and the sea food had zero taste to it. Had to ask for hot sauce and the only flavour we got was from the hot sauce. Felt very dissatisfied and still hungry after our meal. Def wasn’t worth $20 per dish, it’s even more expensive...
Read moreStopped in last night just for a light, late evening bite with my wife. She had the Tortilla Soup, which she enjoyed and I had the Shrimp and Squid Tostatidos off the appetizer menu. They were excellent and worth stopping for again. After dinner, we had dessert - the chocolate mousse and the caramel flan - both were delicious.
The service from staff was excellent. Casa Morelos opens early for breakfast, which we also had on a previous visit this trip and it was a nice break from our hotel food.
Right across from the Holiday Inn in Ixtapa and definitely worth a visit if you are staying on the Playa Palmar hotel strip. Only gave it 4 stars because we didn't experience more of the extensive...
