El Faro — Restaurant in Guerrero

I really tried to like it! My dish was very tasty but the other 4 dishes where very mild in flavor and for the cost they do not worth it.

I ordered the octopus and it really was tasteful but the size of the serving was very little compared to the price. The sweet potato puree had no taste and I used the butter they offered at the biggining to elevate the flavor.

The other dishes where seared tuna and was ok, the salmon lacked salt and taste, both dishes also too little. The other 2 where italian based... Risotto al funghi which was dried and also lacked taste I'm not a pro on cooking but I enjoy doing so and my risotto is way better that this expensive one. Last a type of pasta that we don't even remember...

Also the service at the biggining was bad as I belive they didn't expect good orders when we asked for glasses of water (not bottles) come on! Ixtapa, beach, heat please do not expect ordering 20 bottles of expensive water just let me hidrate! Then we wanted to celebrate one of us for a birthday and the waiter (I belive his name was Luis) answered to my wife the we should have asked this when we did our reservation and not now and literally with an aggressive manner he mentioned "let me see what I can do" at the end I think he saw what we started to order and his approach was different. My wife didn't mentioned to me this little action until after we leave but I really doubt knowing that I would not leave any tip after this...

Make sure to visit other places without the need of this type of treatment and help other type of...

Beautiful view and great service. The setting is really unique and everyone was very friendly and profesional, particularly the manager José Manuel was very attentive. Unfortunately the food is not very good. We were not staying at the hotel so we ordered from the normal menu instead of the all inclusive menu hoping that it would be better but to be honest it felt like it was the all inclusive menu. Here is some feedback for the restaurant: Tostada de Atún - good but generic Duck Wrap - has no texture, either you add the vegetables inside the wrap to give it some crunch and freshness or you make the wrap crunchy. Otherwise everything is soggy. Cesar Salad - was a room service salad, not good nor bad. Watermelon and feta salad - was flavorwise very good but had only 8 small pieces of feta. Mushroom risotto - this was very good both flavor and presentation. Brownie - the brownie was quite nice but the cheap vanilla ice cream absolutely ruined it.

Nonetheless I would still come back once in a while because the view and people were so nice.

PD: the music/ DJ was terrible. It made absolutely no sense instead of creating an ambience he was...

WARNING .......... DO NOT EAT @ EL FARO RESTAURANT, IXTAPA, MEXICO We have gone to El Faro many times ... always liked it. This time on February 28/24, (4) of us went & (3) of us got FOOD POISONING! I was so sick that I passed out in our bathroom, fractured my nose & sustained facial bruises along with shoulder abrasions. Our other (2) friends were terribly sick with diarrhea & vomiting. When I phoned to let El Faro know, the 1st person I spoke to was very apologetic & said I had to contact the Evening Dining Room Manager. I phoned the Dining Room Manager & he basically called me a Liar! Said that if this was so, we should provide Medical Certificates. He also said that on our way out of El Faro that evening, we had booked reservations for La Vista Restaurant for the following evening & that we all went there!!! TOTAL LIE!!!!!! Never have been to that restaurant & we were all too ill to go anywhere ... let alone eat out! Like, I said, we have been to El Faro many times before ... but never will any of us go there again & the entire complex was made aware of this & how we were treated! We are back in Canada now &...
