⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ A True Local Gem – The Real Taste of Zihuatanejo!
If you're looking to experience real Mexico, far from the touristy façade and overpriced resorts, this hidden gem in Zihuatanejo is the place to be. Every bite here feels like home — warm, bold, and unapologetically authentic.
Let’s start with the tacos al pastor: freshly shaved from the spit, the pork is tender, flavorful, and perfectly caramelized around the edges. It's the kind of taco that makes you stop mid-bite and smile. Combine it with one of their vibrant house-made salsas (from smoky to fiery), and you're in taco heaven.
But the real surprise? Their loaded potatoes with cheese and al pastor. It's comfort food with a Mexican soul — melty cheese, savory meat, and all the right toppings. It's messy, rich, and unforgettable.
Then there’s the cheesy chorizo dip — a bubbling skillet of melted cheese and spicy chorizo, served with fresh, warm tortillas. This isn’t your average appetizer — it’s a showstopper. You’ll want to mop up every last bit.
What truly sets this place apart, though, is the ambiance. It’s relaxed, welcoming, and full of life. The staff treat you like family, and the energy of the spot reminds you that you're not in a resort town — you're in Mexico. The real Mexico. The kind that’s colorful, soulful, and filled with flavor at every turn.
Come hungry, bring friends, and don't rush. This is the kind of place you’ll remember long after you leave...
Read moreCan't say enough about this place!!! I'm not super familiar with all Mexican cuisine so keep that in mind when reading, I'll edit if corrected and/or once I've learned more... So this place does foil wrapped baked potatoes filled with pretty much any variety of meats and cheese!! Super delicious!!! One order can be relatively filling though additional shared for orders make it fun to try different options! Two very different people recommended the place and it did not disappoint!
Be prepared to wait if it's busy, there's not really a line up as such you just walk up to the guy who you'll know is in charge and let him know the size of your party, stay close and he'll let you know when they're ready to seat you. The atmosphere is very casual but the place runs like a well oiled machine, from the various cooking stations, to the food prep, servers, etc - everyone knows their part and does it well!! Don't be offended if they start getting your table ready for the next party right as you stand up to leave, it's just part of the process and experience.
I wish I had photos to share but I'm sure there are plenty posted already! Absolutely recommend for a change of scene, or if you want something other than tacos, though they make those...
Read moreWe kept hearing about this place from friends back home, locals, etc..... I thought to myself what is so great about baked potatoes? Well I was so wrong.... they do HUGE baked potatoes any way you can imagine them! It is a little outside the main tourist area so probably a cab is a good option - we took a cab there and then walked back to our hotel once I knew where we were exactly. This was definitely a mostly locals place, lots of families eating here and lots of cars pulling up to get orders to go. And now I know why... the potatoes are a great value - they are so big they are a meal for 2 people! We had an order of the tacos pastor, an order of scallions, the Chingona potato and 2 beers for 150 pesos.... that was about $7.50 US with the exchange rate! Amazing! The potato was tomato, bacon and shrimp and we threw in the onions - So very good! Would go back in a heartbeat if I...
