Update for 2023: The food here has unfortunately descended to the height of mediocrity.
After a couple of visits in the past few months, although the service and atmosphere are still what they used to be; unfortunately the gastronomic offerings leave a lot to be desired now.
It's a shame. This used to be a really charming place.

Perfectly charming lunch spot
El Rincon de Frida is easily one of the most welcoming and atmospheric lunch restaurants I've found in years.
The decor is perfectly suited to a Frida-themed eaterie, and the service is friendly and attentive. The food is excellent, with the chicken sandwich loaded with succulent, well seasoned chicken breast and the Papas ala Frida being slow roasted and delicious.

Read moreWe had a great lunch today. The sandwiches were stacked with bacon and delicious. It was easy for us to get on and off the Chapala bus, close to the OXXO.
Unfortunately we sat at a table outside near the pool and the people beside us started smoking. We didn't realize this was a smoking area as there wasn't a sign nor ashtrays on the table. We would have moved but we all had backpacks and bags to lug around.
