The atmosphere was great and drew us in. The menu said there would be salad but there was none. The tacos, while not in themselves bad, were disappointing because they had no condiments to go with them. The taco with guacamole was just that, one small spoonful of guacamole in a corn tortilla. I’ve had fantastic tacos in the market for cheaper. You’ll pay for the atmosphere really. If you like tequila, that is half of the menu. But my gin and tonic was weak at best. Generally just disappointed, but I have to say the people were kind and helpful even if they spoke no English...

La Carreta is a charmingly rustic restaurant, located just off the main Jocotepec plaza. The decor is traditional, warm, and welcoming. Service is friendly and efficient.
The steaks here are apparently sourced from the family's own ranch, which might explain why the beef is of an excellent quality overall.
Pro-Tips: Stick to the more expensive cuts, as the cheaper ones are prodictably shoe-leather-like.
Not much English is spoken here, so be prepared to practice your Spanish.
