This restaurant is effecinately called the " Shrimp Shack" by the Gringos since it sells shrimp dishes mainly and the building can only be described as a shack. Dirt floors, thatched walls, steel roof, and plastic furniture. This place exudes local charm from a bygone time.
Clearly, I would definitely recommend the shrimp cocktail. We have ordered other things here, and they have been very good also.
Spanish and broken English are spoken here, and the prices are reasonable, hence the five-star review.

Located on the eastern outskirts of Chapala, well away from the town's tourist crowds, Mariscos el Pingüino is truly a hidden gem for seafood lovers.
Don't let the spit and sawdust¹ atmosphere or ramshackle appearance fool you, because what emerges from the restaurant's open plan kitchen is nothing short of excellent.
Service is friendly and prices are more than fair for what's on offer.
