After reading about this place all over the internet, I was finally able to give it a try today. This is considered one of THE spots to come and have a torta ahogada because of its history. The recipe for these specific tortas has been around for a really long time and they are beloved by many people here in the city.

I came around 3 pm and was expecting there to be a line but it was fortunately not that packed. I was able to order and was served promptly.

The two men serving the food will ask you if you want your torta in a bag which is the way they are traditionally had, or in a bowl. They also ask you how much sauce you want and how much spicy salsa you want too. They give you a fairly generous portion though, I can’t imagine anyone would want more than two scoops of sauce to douse their torta in.

The torta, combined with all the sauce, meat and salsa, is extremely tasty. This is a meal that is teeming with so much flavor and texture. The bread is a bit hard but when mixed in with the sauce, it makes it easier to chew as it gets softer. The meat also keeps its consistency but becomes really juicy when you dunk it in the sauce. Even though it was a little messy, I was still really happy with my food and...

I looked for the best Tortas Ahogadas in Guadalajara, the truth is that it seemed like a risk to simply base the decision on an internet search, they are definitely the best Tortas Ahogadas I have ever tried, the cake itself (the bread) is crunchy of good quality, the meat Very good flavor, excellent cooking, the raw tomato sauce with the ideal balance of fresh tomatoes and the spicy sauce in just the right amount added that rich spiciness that I was able to enjoy every bite of the cake, the atmosphere of the place although it is a small local makes you feel very street food....a must-see place on any visit to...

Last time here in GDL I tried a torta ahogada elsewhere and really wasn't impressed. My local friend brought me here and what a treat! Only my second true torta ahogada so don't have much to compare it to but man was it tasty. The pork was nice and tender and the sauce was perfect. It was also a fun experience to eat it in the bag. Excited to try more torta ahogadas to see how this stacks up....
