I was so excited to try this place after I found it in Google Maps. There are two dishes popular with us expats that I use as my standard test of Thai - Phad Thai, and Chicken Satay with peanut sauce.
Unfortunately, they don't make satay at the restaurant (owners husband cited that it was too much work - that I completely do not understand since it is very easy and can almost entirely be prepared in advance.)
They use peanuts in their cooking, but don't make peanut sauce either. I like to use it in dishes other than just satay.
Undeterred, I decided to try the shrimp phad Thai. It was ok, not bad, but not great, only 3 shrimp... it was a little on the dry side (peanut sauce would help), but tasted good.
The Thai Iced Tea was very good!
I have never rated a restaurant "overall" higher than I rate the food, but I could see they were really trying to make me happy.
Overall: 3 of 5 stars Food: 2 stars This could be an easy 4 with popular selections I like. You may find selections you like more and enjoy the place much...
Read moreI usually come here after my amazing Thai massage next door, and I love that the restaurant opens right after for lunch, very convenient. The exterior, with its Thai temple look, is a nice touch and adds to the overall authenticity of the experience.
Having lived in Thailand and enjoyed Thai food in many countries, I can say the flavors here aren’t exactly true to authentic Thai cuisine. That said, having Thai food at all here in the Yucatán still feels like a treat.
I’ve eaten here a couple of times, and it’s been a bit hit-or-miss. Unfortunately, my last visit was disappointing as the seafood platter with crab was cold, lacked flavor, and some ingredients, including the crab, tasted like they had gone bad. The pineapple rice also seemed like it wasn’t freshly made as it had a sour taste as if it had been sitting for a couple of days and then reheated.
Because of these experiences, I likely won’t return for the food or recommend it to friends, but I will absolutely keep coming next door for the truly...
Muchos saludos y quedo pendiente a...
