Nostra Nonna — Restaurant in Mérida

We like to try new places on the weekend and we're both craving pasta. Erik saw what looked like fresh fettuccine being made on site, so we went.

Now, I'm not sure if it's just that it was Sunday or if this place doesn't serve wine and beer, but what Italian pasta joint doesn't have vino?

We started with the arancini. The balls were a little small but the flavor of the rice and the cheese inside was good. The cream and marinara that they serve with them was really good, but the crust of the arancini tasted off. Like maybe overcooked?

We were a little bit nervous because on our table sat oil and vinegar bottles and they looked dirty and one smelled rancid. This is why I'm only giving four stars. That was very unappealing.

I ordered the rigatoni and Erik got the fettuccine nostros. I am not going to sugar coat it, my rigatoni was outstanding. Easily one of the best pasta dishes I've had in a decade.

Erik's fettuccine was in fact fresh made and the sauces on both pasta dishes were incredible. Everything tasted well. Balanced well seasoned and I cannot wait to eat the leftovers.

We ordered the tiramisu to try it and it's huge a single person can't possibly eat this dessert alone. It does not taste like they use any amaretto, but it was a very good dessert...

I decided last night to try a new restaurant; new for me. I made a good decision. The special for this Tuesday was grilled salmon and it was delicious. I also want to mention, the music was wonderful;some real soft jazz and a bit of " My Way " The Chef was very personable and everything was delightful ;; I say again; the food was perfect and priced very reasonable. We have been to La nostra cucina for dinner. The Tortellini were very delicious. The Pizza was okay, but not italien also not american.

We also orderd tiramisu. The price for the tiramisu was okay, but please don't expect an original italian tiramisu. It was made with pudding, whipping cream and something else. Ther was no mascarpone and i missed the taste of coffee.
