This was actually quite disappointing. We were so excited to go here and had great expectations but the service was shocking, which blew our minds...if you are going to charge $2500mxm per steak, you expect decent service right? So as we got in, we waited which is normal, the hostess was polite and took our temperature etc very standard and fine, then it got bad. We were seated right by the speakers...we asked if we could be moved as we could see many open tables and my mother has a hearing problem...nope, we were told they can't move us, so we asked if they could maybe just turn the music down slightly, also a no. Now for the menus...qr code...we asked if they had a hardcopy because our phones didn't have roaming on. Also a no, they don't hand out menus. Ok could they maybe give us a tablet or someone can tell us what is on the menu, also a no. From that point on we were just being ignored and occasionally a waiter would come, he would speak then walk away, not caring if we had any questions or if he could help. So we left...I was shocked, you would think a place that this upmarket would have good service or at least try to accommodate it's customers if a table of 4 will rack up a...
Read moreThe only reasons I give this place 2 stars are: 1) ambience 2) the Black Salt Other than that, this restaurant is the epitome of an identity crisis. High class look, low budget meat, confused or inexperienced cooks, and a huge bar with 200+ bottles of the same 6 liquors on repeat. I'm not sure why it cost 3 times as much as TGIFridays as I'm sure my Ny Strip was from the same frozen meat distributor. But the most ridiculous, and almost disgusting thing was supposed to be a soup dish, but came out as poorly prepared Ceviche in some green broth. There may have been some lime juice in it, but definitely not enough to make the shrimp a true ceviche. They were still grey and translucent. Long story short, we had a $10 (usd) meal at a bustling market earlier that blew this out of the water. Do yourself a favor and go to the Burger King down the...
Read moreOur family of 4 was a few minutes late for Christmas Eve dinner reservations, and they turned us away and were extremely rude. Instead of being kind and understanding they seemed to almost enjoy telling us they could not accommodate us in an empty restaurant. They should have said it in a much nicer way. We took an Uber all the way back to El Centro (where we were staying). We were turned away by several restaurants because it was Christmas Eve, however they were so sweet, nice and helpful. Soon, we stumbled upon Sandungo and they were absolutely wonderful and the food was the best we’ve had so far on our trip! Sonora grill needs to work on their customer service big time! Also, our Uber driver told us Sonora Grill has a reputation of being discriminatory towards Black people. This, along with our experience, I will never return to...
