Alaia — Restaurant in Mexico City

Was not sure it was not just me so I had to ask my partner. I will start by saying that the space is really beautiful. The rear of the restaurant faces a beautiful courtyard with an adorable little chapel that looks from our of a movie. But that is where the extraordinary ends. I really wanted to like this place but found the food to be generally lacking in any flavor; good or bad. It was not bland. Food took forever, children were upset because they were hungry. Finally got our food. My steak was supposed to be medium and it came out completely raw. They took it back said they would butterfly it and bring it right back. Everyone finished their food, still no sign of my food. I told waiter that I no longer wanted it. He said he would bring it right out. I told him not to bother. He still brought it out while everyone was ordering dessert. I told him I was already full, finished my granddaughters food. Terrible service, too expensive for what you get....

Without any doubt my favourite spanish/basque restaurant in the city. I am from Spain and its like eating at home, the food is really good, the service is outstanding, they have a really prepared and outgoing staff ready to offer you what you need. The pintxos are great mix between spanish and mexican food and the main dishes are delicious. I reccomend the pescado a la sal and pescado en salsa verde. 100%...
