El Cardenal Lomas — Restaurant in Mexico City

I would say this is the best place to have breakfast in Mexico City. Traditional Mexican food. Their bread is a MUST..

🍽 The food is amazing what ever you order is great. My favorite breakfast dish is called "huevos a la cazuela", made with 2 scrabble eggs with salsa. Ask for their "bolillo" which is a style of bread, they made them everyday so they are amazing.

👤 The Service is great in this place, even if the restaurant seems crowded the staff is fast and they get your order right away.

🛎 Wait time can be bad on weekends so get there early. I do not belive they accept reservation.

🅿️ There is valet parking outside the restaurant. There is also street parking (you would need to pay) in the streets behind the restaurants. They have parking meter, which only acceps coins.

We have always been recommended to try El Cardenal, and while staying at St. Isidro Corporate Housing, we were only a few blocks away from the Lomas location which made it an easy choice. We came with a family of 8, and there was a ton of people inside and waiting, which usually is a good sign. Luckily it only took around 10 minutes for us to get seated. Service from the waiters was not very good but, in a way, understandable because the restaurant was large and packed. We had an assortment of breakfast items, including several very nice fresh bread/pastry options. Many things keep me coming back to Mexico City. But at the top of the list are the people, the food, the atmosphere, the hospitality, and hidden gems like El Cardenal. I was recommended this restaurant by a close associate who lives in Mexico City. He recommended I get there early as the crowd starts to pick up rapidly. I arrived at 8:30 AM and had no issues getting a table. But within an hour the place was bustling with executives and Mexico City is upper class. Sitting outside was enjoyable.
