This is truly a hidden gem in CDMX. Tucked away in the Tlatelolco neighborhood, this small restaurant serves unique dishes with complex ingredients. A side note—reservations must be made through WhatsApp, as seating is limited, and there are set lunch times at 3 and 5 pm. I managed to snag a last-minute reservation, although the process was a bit slow, and I was informed that only the pork dish was left. There are usually two options served per day, so it’s best to reserve ahead of time if you want more choices. You can find the menu on their Instagram page or inquire through the chat.

Getting to Tlatelolco is easy, as it’s accessible by various modes of transport, but finding the restaurant can be tricky since it’s within the neighborhood buildings—using the exact Google Maps pinpoint is essential.

Upon arrival, I was seated and served a lemon and chia drink, which was perfectly balanced—neither too sweet nor too sour. The chips and salsa served while you wait were an instant favorite, especially the salsa, which was to die for!

The first course featured slices of cucumber with a mix of ingredients that made the dish feel fresh and light. Next came a salad with a sweet potato spread as the foundation, topped with baby lettuce, cherry tomatoes, and garbanzo beans. While the salad lacked a bit of flavor on its own, the sweet potato added a nice touch.

For the main course, I had pork with yellow mole, sweet potato, and a cucumber and arugula salad. The pork looked fantastic, but it was a bit tough to cut and chew. The salad was enjoyable, though the cucumber had a slightly salty flavor that wasn’t entirely to my liking.

To end the meal, I had a guayaba crumble with apple, which had just the right amount of sweetness, making it a delectable dessert.

I thoroughly enjoyed this culinary hidden gem. Each dish had layers of ingredients and flavors, making the entire experience more than worth the price. Experiencing lunch at Gris made me eager to return and explore more of their creations. For only $110 pesos (when I visited this restaurant early in 2024), it’s an absolute must-visit. With its intricate ingredients and sophisticated presentation, I truly appreciated every...

This is my favorite restaurant in the entire world. It is a delight to eat here. The highlight of the restaurant, is the complexity of an always changing tasting menu. I am certain that this place will become a Michelin Star restaurant in the near future and a Chefs Table episode on Netflix for sure. It is a concept menu that will change every day with locally sourced products. It is a fusion Mexican cuisine with flavors of the world. They are elevating traditional dishes with a very interesting proposition. Not everything is tasty always, but it is a place to experiment with new flavors, textures and combinations. The presentation is immaculate and the price of the entire menu is just $6 USD. It is a mixture of high cuisine, a farmers market to table, a comida corrida, with an always changing tasting menu. The only down side is that if you like something, you probably will never be able to have it again. The tasting menu is only offered on weekdays and there are only two sitting times. It is important that you make reservations as the...
