La Casa de Toño — Restaurant in Mexico City

It is a good place to go to eat a rich Mexican pozole accompanied by some tasty flautas which can be assorted or can be the three of the same selection of taste and these can be normal or drowned in a variety of sauces which in my opinion do not sting, but they always put different types of sauces on the table for tasting, I recommend the guacamole which they put in a bottle on the table, and this is not charged.

For dessert I highly recommend the flan de cajeta de la abuela and for drinks there is a great variety from aguas frescas, soft drinks to beers. I recommend the place because the service is quite fast, maybe at the reception you can wait up to 10 minutes but once you are inside the service is fast, so I suggest by education in Mexico leave at least 10% tip as a basis, this varies depending on the service you receive from the waiters.

The only detail that prevents a higher rating is that apparently at certain specific times the access is - a mess - a little complicated, due to the high number of customers waiting for a table. As my granny used to say: it must be for a reason!

Returning to the main subject, Casa de Toño - in my humble opinion - stands out from its own stand, giving the client the opportunity to taste the typical flavor of Mexican food 🇲🇽 at a very affordable price. The waiters are extremely friendly bordering on a very good service.

LAMENTABLEMENTE ya no son tan buenos cómo en el pasado. Los precios cada vez más altos pero sobre todo la calidad ha decaído MUCHO. Es comprensible que debido a la situación post-pandemia muchos comercios han llevado a cabo ajustes pero en mi opinión es una mala estrategia para los restaurantes disminuir la calidad, parece no entienden que perjudican a quienes les permiten continuar con su negocio, su clientela.

De bueno, bonito y barato quedo en nada más bonito.

Se aprovechan de que en nuestro país poca gente levanta la voz para exigir el servicio que merece y la mayoría continúan asistiendo a lugares abusivos por la apatía de no buscar otras opciones o por una lealtad malentendida. Además de lo antes mencionado, ahora te cobran los recipientes cuando es para llevar y no me refiero a los recipientes más sólidos que se ocupan para el pozole (esos siempre los han cobrado por obvias razones), hablo de que te cobran los de las quesadillas y antes eran parte del valor agregado que ofrecían.

El pozole ya no tiene tanta carne cómo antes y el caldo es más simple. La pata por kilo aumentó más de 50% su precio. Los frijoles para las tostadas son súper aguados, parecen agua de color café. Y me podría seguir con más detalles pero creo que con lo ya mencionado se entiende el punto.

Solíamos acudir al menos una vez por semana pero hemos dejado de hacerlo, la decepción ha sido grande.

👍 PROS: Tristemente ya no hay ventajas de acudir a este lugar. Los meseros continúan siendo atentos. 👎 CONS: Precios altos, baja calidad y en general muchos detalles que lamentar.

La calidad ya no es lo que hizo grande a la Casa de Toño del pasado. Ojalá en algún momento cambien su política de calidad y precios y vuelvan a PENSAR en sus CLIENTES, un esfuerzo conjunto puede traer mejores resultados para AMBAS partes y no sólo castigando el bolsillo de la...
