Michoacaníssimo — Restaurant in Mexico City

I come to Mexico quite a lot and the advantage is that after a few years you get to know people who can take you to local and authentic restaurants or bars. Also this time, a friend invited me for dinner at Michoacaníssimo. Their specialty, he told me, is the birria. This is a typical Mexican dish. The dish is a meat stew or soup, traditionally made from goat meat, but occasionally made from beef, lamb, mutton or chicken. The meat is marinated in an adobo made from vinegar, dried chiles, garlic, and herbs and spices before being cooked in a broth.

As my friend is a local my expectations were high. I expected nothing but the best birria in town.

When we arrived there was a line waiting outside. That turned out to be quite common, and also a sign that the food was worth the wait.

Inside you ended up in a large hall. It almost had the feel of a refectory (high ceiling, large space, lots of noise), typically Mexican I'd say, but therefore worth checking out.

But of course we came mainly for the food. We got the "consome" (a kind of soup) and it came in a big portion. For that variation, the meat is shredded and served in the soup. The broth was refilled as often as you wanted.

I can only confirm that it was fantastically delicious. I can't think of a single bad word to describe the birria simply because it was so good.

Sí que esta sabrosa esta birria!!! Ya tenía ganas de venir desde hace mucho tiempo para probarla y comprobar el porqué de su popularidad. En lunes que no hay muchos comensales vine con mi esposa muy temprano y en primer lugar se nos antojó tomar un café el cual es de cafetera doméstica pero de buen sabor y bien calientito, bien servido y bien presentado. Después yo pedí una birria surtida acompañándolo con una quesadilla la cual fue de muy buen sabor ese queso abundante estilo Oaxaca y al mismo tiempo con textura y sabor a queso fresco,. mi esposa ordenó un consomé con una quesabirria de muy buen tamaño y tortillas enormes elaboradas a mano. Algo importante a resaltar es que no se siente grasosa la birria. Al centro te ponen salsa, cebolla, cilantro y limones. Pedimos también una orden chica de aguacate muy bien presentado. Todos los alimentos bastos y abundantes por lo cual pagas por lo que recibes. Ojalá la atención de los meseros fuera más amable y eficiente, pues a pesar que no había mucha gente consumiendo considero que el servicio fue algo lento, por cierto vimos a muchos de ellos sentados en diferentes mesas algunos desayunando pero la mayoría como si estuvieran en algún tipo de reunión. Puedes pagar con tarjeta, pues tienen terminal bancaria y sus precios...

LLEVO AÑOS YENDO A COMER EN ESTE LUGAR, EL CUAL ME GUSTA MUCHO, BUENA ATENCIÓN, CON ÁREA TRANQUILA Y DE AMBIENTE SI ES LO QUE BUSCAS.

YO PIDO EN EL AREA DE LA ENTRADA POPRQUE ES MAS TRANQUILA, SIN EMBARGO DE UN AÑO PARA ACA, VAN DOS VECES QUE ME ATIENDE UNA MESERA, LA MÁS BAJITA, LA MÁS FEITA, DE LENTES Y LA MÁS, MÁS, MÁS MAMONA, PARECE QUE TE ESTÁ HACIENDO UN FAVOR, YA QUE AL PEDIRLE MAS CONSOMÉ, ME DICE QUE ME VA HACER EL FAVOR DE SERVIRME UN POCO MAS, YA QUE NO ESTÁ PERMITIDO. LO CUAL ME PONE EN UNA SITUACIÓN INCOMODA, LE DIJE ME SIRVES MAS CONSOME POR FAVOR, "NO", ME REGALAS MAS CONSOME, SIN TOMAR EN CUENTA QUE EN ESTE LUGAR SIEMPRE TE ATIENDEN BIEN Y SON MUY ATENTOS YA QUE PASAN VARIAS VECES PARA VER QUE SE TEB OFRECE Y DE HECHO PASAN CON UNA CAFETERA COFRECIENDO CONSOME.

NO SE QUE AFAN DE ESTA MESERA DE PONERSE EN ESE PLAN, MUY MAL, PORQUE FINALMENTE LA PROPINA SE GANA Y ESE LUGAR SE CARACTERIZA, POR LA BUENA ATENCIÓN, SERVICIO Y BUEN SABOR, ADEMAS DE QUE NO SE PARECE NADA A LAS DEMAS MESERAS, YA QUE ES GROSERA Y SE VE MUY DISTINTA, QUE MAL.

SEGUIRÉ ASISTIENDO, SÓLO PEDIRÉ QUE NO ME ATIENDA ESA MESERA, EN CASO DE...
