Peltre Lonchería (Narvarte) — Restaurant in Mexico City

I love this addition to the neighborhood and I would give it at least four stars if the service weren't so frustrating. I'll start with what works: The space is bright and inviting, dogs are welcome inside and on the patio, generous serving sizes and good coffee, and it's a nice place to work from during the week although only two tables have outlets. The fruit bowl with yogurt as well as the chilaquiles negros are my two favorite items on the menu though everything I've had has been pretty tasty. The green juice is also really refreshing.

I agree with the comments below about the staff and lack of training. There are a lot of people working there and up at the front all at once but they're not coordinated: The service is slow for take-out, during the week when there are few full tables it's still slow, and it's the same but even worse on the weekends when it's very busy. I've been at least five times since it opened and overall the staff is slow to acknowledge walk ins, orders have to be repeated sometimes multiple times, and they still bring things out in the wrong order or forget things all together. And it can take up to 20 minutes just to get the check or terminal to pay to leave.

If the service was better this place would be worthy of four...

No conozco las otras sucursales de la cadena, pero la comida me pareció bastante buena. Porciones de buen tamaño (no son demasiado grandes), con buen sazón, y buena preparación y presentación. El pan dulce está muy rico (probamos las conchas de cardamomo), y las bebidas calientes están buenas sin ser maravillosas. Quizá algo que es un poco triste es que el pan con el que acompañan sus desayunos es pan de caja. A estas alturas, uno espera algo de pan artesanal, o un bolillito.

El servicio es lento. Tras estar observando un rato al personal, creo que el problema es falta de capacitación. Hay mucho personal pero no está coordinado, y pareciera que están distraídos (nos trajeron un plato que era para otra mesa), o que no conocen el orden correcto de los procesos. Otra falla fue que nos trajeron nuestros platillos prácticamente al mismo tiempo que las bebidas y el pan dulce. Creo que esto podría mejorar con experiencia y capacitación.

El lugar está muy bonito. Todo el mobiliario es nuevo, hay muchas ventanas y está bastante iluminado. Hay una mesa compartida larga al centro, y varias mesas pequeñas. También hay un buen número de mesas exteriores. El interior está agradable, pero ligeramente ruidoso. Si tienen la mala suerte de que les toque un niño que se la pase gritando, como nos sucedió a nosotros, el ruido sí llega a ser bastante molesto.

Es un buen lugar, espero que arreglen los pequeños...

this place exploits it's workers beyond belief, they charge their employees for their uniform which IS AN ILLEGAL PRACTICE, they do not give the tips to their staff, they charge their staff if you return your food and they make them work up to 16 hours a day WITHOUT ANY COMPENSATION! The salaries of the waiters and the chefs are the minimum ($1,843 PESOS a week in a city that charges around $8,000 for rent) They have work meeting after labor hours that can last up to 7 hours and if you do not show up fro any reason (even a medical condition) the restaurant charges $800 pesos out of the employees´ salary.
