Santa Bárbara — Restaurant in Nuevo León

We travelled all day to arrive to Monterrey and were hungry for a hot soup. We found a promising option in Santa Barbara who had a mouth-watering description of caldo de res in their menu. Unbeknownst to us, Monterrey had just reinstated their mask mandate. When we arrived at the restaurant, the host did not welcome us with a friendly voice, but rather just grunted “cubrebocas” and showed us the door. We were too hungry to hunt for another place to eat, so we walked the block back to our car to retrieve our masks. Once we finally got to sit down at our table, we ordered the caldo de res with great anticipation. Sadly, it was not available. My 10 year old son asked me to write a review for this place. He wants to thank Captain Santiago for being very kind and understanding of his younger brother. We had recently had a bout of mistreatment from people in Monterrey city who seemed to not understand the concept of autism. At this restaurant my boy was treated properly and with respect. The service was excellent and the food was amazing. It was so good that it brought reminders of home cooked meals in the country side by abuela. Plus: the atmosphere was very mexican. I commend their treatment with diverse visitors and hope to bring my family here again....

En esta ocasión fuimos al Restaurante Santa Bárbara ubicado en Lázaro Cárdenas cruz con Boulevard Acapulco, en los límites de San Pedro y Monterrey Nuevo León. El motivo de la visita fue celebrar a mis hijos por su cumpleaños. 🎂 Este restaurante ya tiene rato que cuando quieres visitarlo tienes que saber que te llevará aproximadamente de 30 a 40 minutos para que te puedan asignar una mesa. En esta ocasión tenían demasiada gente esperando en la entrada y en la zona de afuera. Esperamos alrededor de 30 a 35 minutos. Cuándo entramos pude notar que el área de arriba no estaba habilitada, por lo cual la espera era por más tiempo. La comida me parece que ha bajado su calidad. Anteriormente cuando el restaurante no era tan concurrido la comida tenía un delicioso sabor. Las porciones como su eslogan lo dice todo es grande. En cuanto al servicio del mesero creo que faltó atención al cliente. Entiendo que por mucho trabajo no le den ese buen seguimiento. Pero considero que eso da pie a considerarlo para volver. A mis flautas le faltaron la cremita y solamente me sirvieron una vez el agua de horchata. Creo que dejará de ser mi restaurante de añoranza por qué la calidad de la comida bajó el restaurante siempre luce lleno y el servicio al cliente ya no es tan bueno como antes.

Nota: el restaurante cuenta con ballet parking para que no batalles también al momento de estacionarte. Otra razón por la cual pudieras decir no entrar, porque al ver tanta gente esperando afuera y además no haber...
