The corporate food was a huge disaster and disappointment on so many levels...
All the food was horrible, overly processed and packed with fillers and preservatives to the point it was not even real food. It was also VERY overpriced for the portions and quality.
The Chips and salsa are no longer the thin hot fresh salted chips Chili's use to serve, but rather thicker more stale tasting cheap bagged chips served at room temperature and the portions and presentation were insulting. We declined the free refill and didn't even eat all the chips. (and whats with the ugly metal trays?)
My Ice tea was no longer the American style fresh brewed Ice Tea but rather some horrible tasting crud with powdered flavoring that was so horrible I was gagging to to try to even drink it... didn't finish the glass and never asked for a refill because it was that bad .. in the past Id drink at least 6 glasses of tea during a meal.
It was the fist time ever at a Chili's for the two friends with us and they decided to split the hot wing combo.. they felt they would split the order due to the picture in the menu and thinking it was a lot of food. However when the order came, they were so disappointed with the super small serving portion they immediately ordered another order before even tasting the food. The menu pictures and descriptions were very deceptive and the picture speaks volumes.
After tasting the wings they were actually gagging at the flavor and seasoning. The wings were so bad that when the second order arrived they didn't even eat them.. when the waiter came and offered a to-go bag my friends declined which caused the waiter to understand the food was bad. They just told him to throw it away and he said "you didn't even touch it"... I told the waiter the wings were horrible. My friend told me later he would not even feed that food to his dog nor would his dog probably even eat it..
I ordered the Mushroom Jack Fajita combo and it was overcooked and really burnt on the bottom. The chicken was so processed and rubbery and had like a spray on greasy chicken flavor that I actually thought it was fake meat and it tasted like it too. Then to insult me even further, Chili's decided to serve me the worlds smallest flour tortillas (after first trying to serve me corn tortillas). I felt if Chili's cost costs any further, Id simply just get a picture of a tortilla.
My wife ordered the Bayou Tilapia fish plate with rubbery vegetables she felt were a year old. Her fish was half way decent enough to eat but she was disappointed and later at home had a stomach ache.
Our meal was way overpriced for the poor food quality and small portions. Our meal came out to $1,800.00 Pesos which was an insult and while none of this was the waiters fault we did tip him $200.00 Pesos out of respect for him having to make a living. So in total it was just over $2,000.00 Pesos for a horrible experience.
Once back to the hotel we ordered 2 pizzas ($650 pesos) so our friends could eat.
Next time we will simply not visit Chili's and just directly order pizza and save $1,500.00 Pesos and a lot of headaches .. This will be my last visit to ANY Chili's and my friends wont be going back either.
For those people who gave positive reviews of the food, you will never know what it was like back in the late 70s and early 80s waiting in an hour long line on a given night just to get a table at Chili's especially on Beltline road at Midway in Dallas (with the miniature train that ran along the ceiling) where a basket of super hot fresh fries with spices and pepper was considered a real treat along with your great food and burgers... and a basket of super thin hot chips covered in oil and salt .... those days...
