Holy Moly — Restaurant in Oaxaca

Dinner at Holy Moly now an essential part of our Puerto Escondido visits! Nobody in our group is vegan and we all love the food, it is made with such care and imagination and the flavours are fantastic, really unique and like nothing I’ve eaten anywhere else. The vibe of the restaurant is great and the garden you’re sitting in is gorgeous. A great place to go for a special night out, the ambience and food together make this a wonderful dining experience. Also both times I’ve eaten here I’ve left absolutely stuffed. Below I’ve included photos of our last meal which was a delicious salad, vegan creamy gnocchi and then brownie for desert - however they’ve got a different options each time so this will probably not be what you eat. Having just the one dish on the menu I felt was part of the fun of eating there, as that one dish is crafted with a lot of care and attention. It’s like half restaurant half supperclub. I absolutely loved this place! A friend and I went in early August 2023 not knowing what to expect and we were blown away. We had a delicious juice made with Guayabana, a roasted and fermented vegetable salad, and a main course with a creative and surprising combination of plantains, caramelized onions, minced soy, fresh homemade naan and other things put together in a way that I'm really not doing justice here. Desert was her take on arroz con leche. The restaurant is in the backyard of her home which is a beautiful garden complete with a friendly neighborhood cat that comes by to greet guests. Wow wow wow. First of all, the vibe in this place is magical. Coming to eat here is not like going to any normal restaurant where you get a menu and you choose from a long list. It’s more like going to your friends beautiful house that cooks amazingly and you know that whatever she is cooking is going to be very special and super delicious. That’s what Holy Moly is.
