Of all the common and traditional comedores I've eaten at in Mexico over the years, I'm rating this above them all. Uncommon lack of delay on service and arrival of food was a really nice touch. The prices in these post pandemic times seem to be relatively unchanged, but I cannot speak accurately to this as these times were my first visits - yet, I found the prices to be very humble and incredible value. The sopa de hongos was bursting with flavour, freshness and quality of ingredients. As standard, it came accompanied with fresh tortillas. We shared a large soup between two and a vegetarian tlayuda. The tlayuda was the best I've eaten in Oaxaca - not overcooked, amazing quality of ingredients, incredibly well balanced of flavour and softness vs crunch. We also ordered a cafe de olla and agua de chocolate. Both delicious. The following morning we ordered the chilaquiles rojos con huevo and the enfrijoladas con huevo. I must say, hands down the best enfrijoladas I've ever tasted! There was some spice I couldn't place that really brought everything together... Dry fennel? That aside, the flavour profile was exquisite. And the eggs were cooked perfectly. Such an incredible find in the heart of San Jose Pacifico above the clouds. A must visit in the area!

Beautiful local restaurant with a second floor with a wonderful view and a little adjacent souvenir shop. You will find English menus and English speaking waiters. They cook simple, yet amazing local dishes at very affordable prices (and I mean VERY). Try a cup of hot cacao since cacao seeds are local and very common in the area and also try the handmade Tlayudas from this place. They were fantastic! We also tried a red color soup that I can't recall its name but it was also great!

This is our first time in San Jose del Pacifico and we stopped in for a bite. We wanted the chile relleno, but they were out. The tacos and tostada were fine. The salsa was good. We wanted some pan dulce but they were out of that too. We had a local pan, pan cerrano and a hot chocolate. They were good.
