The prices are extremely high. We booked a private boat ride across the bays. The captain told us we were going to eat in the Maguey bay. As soon as we got there, the life guard and waiter helped us get off the boat, and even brought down the heavy cooler. We didn’t get to choose which restaurant to go to, and we didn’t want to argue. The prices were extremely elevated. A side of guacamole was about $100 if I recall correctly. The a la diabla salsa wasn’t spicy at all. If you book a boat tour, make sure to ask which restaurants the captain has deals with, and try to avoid this one. But more likely than not, you’ll end up in one of these tourist trap restaurants. Had we known, we would have packed things to make our own sandwiches. For a family of 6, we spend close to $1,800 pesos because we tried to share meals between each other to avoid...

First of all, I absolutely hate that all taxi drivers we used dropped us off in the back of restaurants so they got kickbacks whenever we went to the beach.

We had a nice table in the shade close to the ocean. Our waitress was very nice and attentive but the food and drinks were not very impressive. It was very expensive and they added a 10% service charge to the bill without any prior notification. It's their loss cause I usually tip at least 20% for good service.

Their bathroom should be updated like they did...

Great location, great service, amazing food. But ya, like everyone says, it was all pretty expensive. We got tempted by a giant lobster and excellent ceviche, and it was fantastic and memorable.

Of course the tour guides and taxi drivers take tips from certain restaurants, they do that where you're all from too, referrals are part of any business model, especially in emerging economies where people are struggling to get ahead. You're on...

We liked the food but it was exorbitantly expensive (by local standards): e.g. 650 pesos for a pineapple stuffed with seafood. The 10% gratuity was included in the bill, probably because we were part of a tour. This is actually how we ended up there - the restaurant was "recommended" by our '7 bays' tour guide, and we were escorted to the restaurant by the personnel right from the boat, so there wasn't actually an easy way to choose another place.
