We went to Las Hamacas after reading a number of positive reviews. Previous "by chance" experiences at the restaurants there have been underwhelming and pricey, with occasionally resentful waiters. We mostly wanted a place out of the sun, with a good view, to sit for a while before heading back to town after a morning on the beach. Our party of four was very pleased with the service from Beti who is absolutely charming and earnest in her desire to provide good attention. We ordered a beer, a soft drink and a bottle of mineral water to have with two orders of excellent french fries (we saw them on another table and thought they looked good ) and an attractively presented order of guacamole. Beti cheerfully brought us everything we requested: mayonnaise and vinegar (half of our party was Canadian!) in addition to the cocktail sauce for the crisp tostadas and several types of bottled salsas. Beti is working on improving her English, and very patient with those with little Spanish. She really made our experience special and we will definitely return to order more extensively in the future. Beti offered to call a taxi for us but we have had short waits in the past and such was the case today. Prices seemed to be on a par or a bit less than other restaurants. The main difference was that we felt much more welcome regardless of the size of our order, and, of course, the warmth of Beti.

This is our favorite beach bar along Playa Maguey. It's tucked towards the end so you have a lot of the beach to yourself and it's quieter. Also closer to the rocks which are good for snorkeling in low waves. The main reason we go back is for the lovely service from Betty! She's always so bubbly and friendly and we practice her English/my Spanish together. She's always welcoming to our dog and very prompt with service. *We have not eaten here. We always have a big meal before the beach. But the menu features a ton of great seafood options and the drinks are always delicious!
