Late last year I was taken to this restaurant by a friend who knows both Oaxaca and food. The restaurant is in an unassuming location and looks a bit like a garage. But the food, the food is unbelievably good. I spent a month in Mexico and ate in some very fine restaurants, including in Polanco, the upmarket neighbourhood in Mexico City, and a couple of Oaxaca top rated places, but Restaurante Yu Ne Nisa was the best meal I ate in Mexico. The various varieties of mole sauce are themselves worth the visit. We had more than enough wonderful food, beer and Mescal, and the total bill was less than $50.

The best meal we’ve eaten after 4 weeks in Oaxaca. Everything we ordered was ah.may.zing! We had the sopa de fideo, meat empanadas, garnachas, mole negro and elote empanadas.
