D'Italia — Restaurant in Quintana Roo

I don’t know why this place exists on this property. I went to this place with 5 other friends with a reservation for dinner. This seemed like an experience into Kitchen Nightmares with Gordon Ramsey. I was prepared that anytime Gordon will step out and shut down the place. Once we were seated for 8:45 pm reservation, we placed the orders and it started with a high point with the soup. I can’t recall which one was it but it was not the minestrone. The soup was lukewarm but was pretty good in taste, so our expectations were very high now. Once they cleared the soup bowls, we had a 40 min waiting period where there was no food on table. When we looked around the room, nobody had any food on their table, most of them were eating table bread. When the food arrived 40 mins later, it was cold, sampler sized portions, and really disappointing. Now the bar was set too low for desserts. We thought they cannot go wrong with tiramisu, but when we started ordering Tiramisu was unavailable, we thought of getting another thing which was also unavailable. Finally we settled on getting a warm chocolate cake and pana cotta. The chocolate cake was dense and seemed unbaked. And the pana cotta was meh. I would not go back to this place. Food was okay. We asked what wine they had when they offered that was included at no extra charge since it's an all included resort and were told it was nothing. Which is cool, I don't mind paying for a bottle. But when we are told it is 251 pesos for a bottle, which would be about 15 USD, and got a second bottle, and then brought a ticket showing they were 4200 pesos per bottle which is about 247. USD per bottle, I canceled everything else the resort had planned for us. Never felt so swindled in my life.

Edit: We also Googled the bottle of wine and it said you can buy them for between 200 and 500 Pesos all day long and they typically retail for 20...

Absolutely fantastic restaurant, food is outstanding, the service impeccable and a nice quiet atmosphere prevails. A special shout out to the acting manager Danielle. Of all the lovely restaurants in this resort, she was the only manager to go around to each table and make sure everything was satisfactory.
