We came to Oscar and Lalo twice, as part of tours we had with Riviera Adventours. The first time we came for dinner in the evening, the second time we came for lunch during the day. Both times we really enjoyed the food. I had different dishes each time as I couldn't decide the first time, but my fiancé enjoyed the first dish so much that he ordered it again the second time we ate there several days later. He still mentions that dish now - it was peppers stuffed with Oaxaca cheese.
The setting for Oscar & Lalo is beautiful in a tropical garden surrounding. There is indoor and outdoor seating, and a play area for kids. At night the place comes alive with ambient lights. The bathrooms were clean.
On our first visit, my fiancé and I had just got engaged that morning. The owner Virginia was so happy for us, and when the staff brought out our desserts they had congratulations written on. My dad had just turned 60 two days before, and Virginia organised a birthday dessert for him too. Not wanting to leave my mum out, she was given a dessert congratulating her for putting up with my dad for the past 35 years, as it had been their anniversary that year! The staff were so friendly and we loved that level of service and it made us feel really looked after whilst we were there.
We would come back to Oscar & Lalo if we were in the area again as we really enjoyed it and would like to try some other things on the menu....
Read moreI've driven by Oscar & Lalo's for a number of years and yet have never chosen to dine there. I've been missing out!
This restaurant is beautiful, both the indoor dining as well as the gardens dining. Staff are very attentive.
The food... amazing! Some of the best guacamole and chips in Mexico! The three of us enjoyed the octopus appetizer. Wonderfully prepared and chargrilled so that it was very tender!
We all agreed that our entrees were fantastic. The seafood stuffed poblano chile was fantastic. My friends had the steak fajitas... no need to present in a steaming iron skillet as places do in the states. The food spoke for itself without that manufactured fanfare! They also had the simply prepared yet very tasty fish fillet in garlic and butter. Perfect!
Desert was tres leches... yum! And a chocolate cake that was simply perfection. As a chocolate lover, I've eaten more than my share of chocolate cake. And I have now found my favorite.
Virginia, the owner, was on site to greet, seat and interact with all of the diners. She's just lovely with a beautiful spirit and it quickly becomes apparent that she truly enjoys being a proprietor.
In the future it will be hard to drive from Akumal to Tulum without stopping each time at Oscar & Lalo's! They definitely have a...
Read more"The Best Christmas Dinner in Tulum" The authentic cuisine here is divine! We chose two entrees. Perfectly prepared Lobster and Lamb, and the presentation was also very inviting. We ate here two different nights because no other restaurant compared, so we reserved Christmas dinner and are so happy that we did. The Owner, Virginia, was very nice and double checked our order to be sure that everything was to our liking. The Tres Lecha Cake was perfectly moist and very tasty. It was, in fact, the best I have ever had! The chocolate mouse cake was also fantastic. I Loved my Sangria made with Red Wine, Rum, and Fresh Apples. My husband really enjoyed the passion fruit margarita. (They even grow their passion fruit right there on the property... )If you are coming to the area, you do not want to miss the opportunity for a wonderful authentic meal here. The service was amazing, and it was surprisingly affordable for a 5 Star dining experience. The other bonus is that the property is lovely, offering both inside dining and an elegant patio, away from the traffic and crowds of Tulum! Don't miss it.. We cannot wait to come back and dine there on...
