The Beached Bikini Bar and Grill â A Beachside Oasis in Akumal
If you find yourself in Akumal, youâve likely discovered a place where the line between paradise and indulgence blursâand The Beached Bikini Bar and Grill is exactly that place. Located right on the edge of the beach, with sand beneath your feet and ocean in your sights, this is the kind of place you feel lucky to stumble upon.
Sitting at the bar feels like a trip back to simpler times. The seats are swingsâyes, beach swingsâthat let you rock back and forth like youâve just hit the perfect vacation rhythm. Itâs the kind of spot where the weight of the world falls off your shoulders the moment you settle in.
We started our journey with a round of margaritas on the rocks, followed by a taste of Cerveza Tulumâa perfectly crisp lager that effortlessly paired with the steak tacos. And those tacosâwow. The steak was tender, perfectly seasoned, and bursting with flavor. But it was the whole experience that made it unforgettable: the chips were light, airy, and crisped to perfection. The salsa was a masterpiece, and the pico de gallo was fresh and bright, while the guacamole? A creamy, green revelation. Itâs one of those dishes you want to keep eating until you canât possibly eat anymore.
Service was top-notchâsmooth, efficient, and attentive, with the staff making sure your margarita glass never goes empty. This place is where âregularsâ become family. Youâll quickly sense the tight-knit vibe as you watch locals and loyal visitors share laughs and stories, all while the steady rhythm of waves crashing serves as the soundtrack. Itâs the perfect blend of vacation indulgence, tropical breezes, and laid-back Mexican culture.
Letâs talk ambiance. The Beached Bikiniâs vibe is a delicate mix of beachside freedom and Mexican charm. The bar is stocked with top-shelf liquor and an impressive variety of cervezas, giving you all the options you need to keep the good times flowing. And though you might occasionally find a few ants (hey, itâs a beach bar), the bar top stays clean, and the restrooms are spotlessâsomething you definitely donât take for granted when youâre at a place like this.
The real beauty, though, comes from the view. Youâre sitting on the edge of the worldâliterallyâwhere the horizon feels like it goes on forever. And thatâs worth a million dollars.
Napkin game? A+. The drinks, food, and vibes? Beyond memorable. The Beached Bikini Bar and Grill isnât just a place to eat and drinkâitâs where you let go of the world for a while, knowing youâve just experienced something truly special. If youâre anywhere near Akumal, you wonât...

As of our recent visit, a couple of the girls that work there are pretty darn rude and downright hateful. Itâs very clear that this might be partially to being understaffed. Theyâre always running around and they canât be efficient when they have to write down every order and add it up with a calculator and try to keep track of everything on paper. However, there clearly is some toxic mindset that is probably spreading to the others. Specifically the girl who works Mondays and Tuesdays is one of the rudest service people I have ever met. She openly said to me, gringos are coming there getting them sick. She does not belong in public service. She would barely make eye contact and anytime I seen her, she looked grumpy, or was trying to force a smile. After all the time and money we have spent there and we are always so kind to everyone, we will never come back again. FYI, we tip great. I am not sure if Nancy wants to bother with correcting that behavior or finding someone who truly cares about people and enjoys what they do. Some people really are unhappy with themselves and treat others terribly because of it. Most people that come here are on vacation and just want to enjoy themselves. This place is the only close food to where we normally stay on that beach. At some point, I dreaded even going over there. I almost felt like such a burden, ordering anything at all. This is not for all the girls there, specifically just 2 and they know who they are. How you treat others as a reflection of who you are. Sadly, it leaves a bad stain on this place. Because they were so busy we would just order our food to go, eat it at our place and bring dishes or anything back that was theirs. Trying to be kind and take some weight off their plates as they are very busy. I love the owners dogs, but that clearly is an issue as I seen it attack another dog who was visiting. I was a waitress for many years and can sympathize, but I never treated guest like crap or like they were a burden. Iâve had so many great memories here, sad that they have...
Read moreI am outraged at the treatment I received by Johnny (the bartender ). We came in through the bar and went to the beach. On our way back we planned to Grab dinner . However , every single table was occupied ( good for them ). We clearly couldn't have dinner there and proceeded to continue walking through to go find a place to eat. Johnny stopped us and asked for 100 Pesos , for going trough their bar. As much as I disagreed , I gave 100. He then asked for 100 more . My aquentence , who I had known all of 4 hours and is from another county, was upset . He said "ok, but I want a recipient". Johnny declined to give one and said no. That prompted my company to swipe the 100 back I paid and refuse to give more without a receipt. I tried to calm the situation as Johnny was escalating it. With a bar FuLL of people , continued the scene . So embarrassing . Johnny continued to argue with me and I explained... "I don't control this person, I am with". Johnny repeated over and over "he is your guest" what? My guest? I don't even know him! Not only that, he angered the man more by continuing to harass me and not the man , when I paid. I have had a posada here, I have booked a room here and I am appalled at the way Johnny handled It. So unprofessional. Clearly, they are pocketing the money , illegally not giving a receipt and the worst of it... the GREED , as these business , purposefully block entrance to the beach , that belongs to the people. This has to stop, GREED is destroying this...
