I’m not sure where to start on how wonderful beach bikini bar and Grill was to have a wonderful lunch. Let’s first start with Alina, who is the owner‘s daughter who is wonderful and nice, came over to introduce herself to us and asked our names. We started with a large guacamole, which was absolutely incredible and is probably enough for four people. I had the shrimp quesadillas and my wife had the shrimp fajitas. Both were outstanding. We decided that we needed to get off the Bahia Principe campus, as the food there lacks creativity, authenticity, and this little restaurant outshined the big resort every way. Alina, thank you so much for a wonderful afternoon and evening with laughs, an amazing vibe, great food and amazing cocktails made with real fruit. Cheers Samantha and Tim

This place has great VEGAN food options in Akumal! My family and I are there several times during our stay. The nachos are great, the bean ball Italian Sub was delicious and my sons liked the Beyond Burger they serve. My daughter ate just the potato wedges for lunch one time, and loved them. They are seasoned really well…maybe with paprika or seasoned salt. Yum! (Only 50 pesos, too). I like that the meat balls in the sub are made from black beans, so they are less processed that the Beyond Meat type things. My son also had the tacos al pastor and really liked them. We will be going back again today, for lunch. It’s a small, beach front place with a small bar and nice outdoor seating on the sand. So great to have lots of vegan options is Akumal!!

It’s disappointing when a restaurant doesn’t value its customers. Our group of 14 visited twice—the first time was acceptable, but the second time was a disaster. The server was rude, and the owner snapped at us right away, even though we were polite. The place was busy, but that’s no excuse for treating paying customers poorly. My wife’s grilled cheese never arrived, and when I politely reminded them, they insisted it had been served—basically calling me a liar over an $8 sandwich. We spent over $500 there in two days, and this was how they treated us. Bad attitude from the owners and some staff. I’d strongly recommend staying away from this place.

The Beached Bikini Bar and Grill – A Beachside Oasis in Akumal

If you find yourself in Akumal, you’ve likely discovered a place where the line between paradise and indulgence blurs—and The Beached Bikini Bar and Grill is exactly that place. Located right on the edge of the beach, with sand beneath your feet and ocean in your sights, this is the kind of place you feel lucky to stumble upon.

Sitting at the bar feels like a trip back to simpler times. The seats are swings—yes, beach swings—that let you rock back and forth like you’ve just hit the perfect vacation rhythm. It’s the kind of spot where the weight of the world falls off your shoulders the moment you settle in.

We started our journey with a round of margaritas on the rocks, followed by a taste of Cerveza Tulum—a perfectly crisp lager that effortlessly paired with the steak tacos. And those tacos—wow. The steak was tender, perfectly seasoned, and bursting with flavor. But it was the whole experience that made it unforgettable: the chips were light, airy, and crisped to perfection. The salsa was a masterpiece, and the pico de gallo was fresh and bright, while the guacamole? A creamy, green revelation. It’s one of those dishes you want to keep eating until you can’t possibly eat anymore.

Service was top-notch—smooth, efficient, and attentive, with the staff making sure your margarita glass never goes empty. This place is where “regulars” become family. You’ll quickly sense the tight-knit vibe as you watch locals and loyal visitors share laughs and stories, all while the steady rhythm of waves crashing serves as the soundtrack. It’s the perfect blend of vacation indulgence, tropical breezes, and laid-back Mexican culture.

Let’s talk ambiance. The Beached Bikini’s vibe is a delicate mix of beachside freedom and Mexican charm. The bar is stocked with top-shelf liquor and an impressive variety of cervezas, giving you all the options you need to keep the good times flowing. And though you might occasionally find a few ants (hey, it’s a beach bar), the bar top stays clean, and the restrooms are spotless—something you definitely don’t take for granted when you’re at a place like this.

The real beauty, though, comes from the view. You’re sitting on the edge of the world—literally—where the horizon feels like it goes on forever. And that’s worth a million dollars.

Napkin game? A+. The drinks, food, and vibes? Beyond memorable. The Beached Bikini Bar and Grill isn’t just a place to eat and drink—it’s where you let go of the world for a while, knowing you’ve just experienced something truly special. If you’re anywhere near Akumal, you won’t...

Obviously a great view and beach. We have been coming here for years, bringing friends and family. It used to be our favorite place. As of our recent visit, a couple of the girls that work there are pretty darn rude and downright hateful. It’s very clear that this might be partially to being understaffed. They’re always running around and they can’t be efficient when they have to write down every order and add it up with a calculator and try to keep track of everything on paper. However, there clearly is some toxic mindset that is probably spreading to the others. Specifically the girl who works Mondays and Tuesdays is one of the rudest service people I have ever met. She openly said to me, gringos are coming there getting them sick. She does not belong in public service. She would barely make eye contact and anytime I seen her, she looked grumpy, or was trying to force a smile. After all the time and money we have spent there and we are always so kind to everyone, we will never come back again. FYI, we tip great. I am not sure if Nancy wants to bother with correcting that behavior or finding someone who truly cares about people and enjoys what they do. Some people really are unhappy with themselves and treat others terribly because of it. Most people that come here are on vacation and just want to enjoy themselves. This place is the only close food to where we normally stay on that beach. At some point, I dreaded even going over there. I almost felt like such a burden, ordering anything at all. This is not for all the girls there, specifically just 2 and they know who they are. How you treat others as a reflection of who you are. Sadly, it leaves a bad stain on this place. Because they were so busy we would just order our food to go, eat it at our place and bring dishes or anything back that was theirs. Trying to be kind and take some weight off their plates as they are very busy. I love the owners dogs, but that clearly is an issue as I seen it attack another dog who was visiting. I was a waitress for many years and can sympathize, but I never treated guest like crap or like they were a burden. I’ve had so many great memories here, sad that they have...

I am outraged at the treatment I received by Johnny (the bartender ). We came in through the bar and went to the beach. On our way back we planned to Grab dinner . However , every single table was occupied ( good for them ). We clearly couldn't have dinner there and proceeded to continue walking through to go find a place to eat. Johnny stopped us and asked for 100 Pesos , for going trough their bar. As much as I disagreed , I gave 100. He then asked for 100 more . My aquentence , who I had known all of 4 hours and is from another county, was upset . He said "ok, but I want a recipient". Johnny declined to give one and said no. That prompted my company to swipe the 100 back I paid and refuse to give more without a receipt. I tried to calm the situation as Johnny was escalating it. With a bar FuLL of people , continued the scene . So embarrassing . Johnny continued to argue with me and I explained... "I don't control this person, I am with". Johnny repeated over and over "he is your guest" what? My guest? I don't even know him! Not only that, he angered the man more by continuing to harass me and not the man , when I paid. I have had a posada here, I have booked a room here and I am appalled at the way Johnny handled It. So unprofessional. Clearly, they are pocketing the money , illegally not giving a receipt and the worst of it... the GREED , as these business , purposefully block entrance to the beach , that belongs to the people. This has to stop, GREED is destroying this...
